Was really interested to see this post as I love the name Claudia too and have it on my wish list if bubs #2 is a girl. Like you though I am worried about it being shortened to Claude. There was a girl I work with called Claudine who was called Claude.

Claudi sounds kind of cute though - better than Claude and positve to see that others have said they wouldn't think of shortening it.

I love the name Ava too but prefer Claudia. Just beautiful.

My god daughter is Claudia Cate, her NN's include:

    Claude
    Claudes
Cloudia (Italian way of saying it)
    Cloudy
    CC

I think it's a beautiful name and not too popular either.

We are aussie!! Everything will be shortened, even if it ends up actually being longer ;p lol

I would shorten it if I were close to her to Claudy, or Cloudy (depending on how you are planning on having it pronounced.
I love Claudia though, not anywhere near as common as Ava Grace is these days

I dont think there is anything wrong with Claudia being shortened to Claude, but thats just me.

I have heard of Audrey , being shortened to Aude and thats nearly the same.

Maybe you could use Claudio for a nick -name?

Well my daughters name is long and it NEVER gets shortened People will call your child what ever you introduce then as I introduce Annabelle as Annabelle nothing else so they dont call her anything else.
The only person that calls her Bell is her little friend but he'sto little to say Annabelle
