Maybe it's different for me because I'm not a big present receiver. Most years I get one gift, if that, and my mum just sends money which makes me sad as there is no thought in it. I'd much rather someone spent a little more on one thoughtful combined present and spent less than they would for 2 separate presents. I was probably about 13 or 14 when I came to this conclusion though, as a kid I would get upset about combined presents.
