    Dummies

    Hi all
My little one is 11.5 weeks old and I am becoming more and more reliant on his dummy for settling. I try and take it out before he falls asleep but sometimes I don't.

My question is at what age can they find their dummy in the night and put it back in ???

    Thanks for your help

Hmm.... 15.5 months here and still counting.....
I think some bubs are just better at getting their own stuff (being more independent) than mine is!!!

We attach Charlie's to his dummy chain & then to his sleeping bag or tshirt depending what nap it is & he finds it no worries. It's the best thing we ever started doing & wish we had sooner. Some bubs will pick it up easy...others may not. But the sooner you try putting extra dummies in the cot, or attaching a chain, or taking it away (what ever works for you) the sooner they will adapt to what it is you are trying to achieve.

Chloe was about 7 or 8 months when she would find it for herself - which was about the time she started breaking out of her wrap! We used to place about 6 or 7 in her cot around her head like a halo and she would find them for herself. I still witness her reaching above her head in her sleep for her 'dum'!

The funny thing is, with a thumb, he knows exactly where it is. A blessing for now, but not so much later if he doesn't stop sucking it! LOL, it seems sometimes you are d#mned if you do and d#mned if you don't.

Nina was around 6 months old when she could find it herself. She loved it so much, she knew exactly where it was all the time! Another thing you could try when he's older is putting a couple of dummies in his cot, and see if she can find at least one of them.

Finally at nearing 2 she only loses it now about once a night.
