Maggie, my DD had bad eczema from birth. After taking her to a paediatric allergy specialist, she has allergies to milk products and egg. But he said that the allergy and eczema are treated as seperate issues. He gave me two different creams, one called Elidel (non cortisone) and ther other Elicon (cortisone). After only a few days of using the Elicon cream, it totally cleared up! It was a miracle. The elidel is then used for any flareups, which there haven't been many at all. Some babies can have an allergy to soy, so its best they be tested before starting a soy based formula. My DD is on NAN HA 2, and can tolerate this formula due the enzyme present in it that breaks down the milk protein. Maybe talk to you Health Nurse or GP about the creams as I know if they have it present on their face the cream is cheaper (silly, not sure why?). I use Planet Ark powder for washing her clothes and only bath her in water, no other products. Moisturise with a good sorbolene. Hope you find something to ease your DS discomfort, its a horrible thing for them to go through. I have been absolutely amazed at my DD's progress. Good luck with it.
