Has anyone out there had problems taking there child out of a grobag.... I'm thinking of moving my DS into a big bed in the next 6 months, at the moment he's in a cot in a grobag.... just worried that he'll try and get out of the bed and fall over in the bag!? Also worried that its become a sleep aid and that he may not be able to sleep without it!
I know I'm not going to find out if any of these things are issues right now but I wondered if anyone had any experience with some or all of them!
I was given many for DD but never used them. I dont know why, didnt feel safe for some reason. Ive always used the suits with legs. Will be interesting to see other opinions.
K
we use a grobag.
At this stage my plan is that when DS goes to his big bed, it comes with new linen etc, doona, he can choose them, and the grobag goes bye byes.
I'm going to make it all part of the big boy transition if I can.
Charlie was a grobag addict. Then last summer same (he would have been 18 months) and it was just too hot for the growbag, so I bit the buttlet and got rid....but I kept everything else the same.......same stories, same hot milky, same cuddles, same music etc etc......and he was fine. Didn't impact his sleep at all!
So, maybe you could wait till the weather warms up, wean him off the grobag (all the while sticking with the cot) and then tackle the cot to big bed transition separately?
Or is it that you want the cot for your new little one? (Do you use a bassinet? that may buy you a few more months?)
Was thinking I would use the cot for the newy.... but it might be a good idea to tackle the issues separately as you suggested Lucy, getting rid of the grobag first then trying the big bed at a later stage..... the baby isn't due until February so I have a bit of time, just wanted to try and stall and future problems!!
Has anyone had any success with the barriers to keep there littlies in the bed or are they a waste of money...?
I haven't used a grobag, considered it but just never bought one..lol. I do use the suits with the legs though. As for the bed rail, with DS # 1 I didn't use one and he never fell out of bed even though I would find him upside down at times! However, I remember my brother falling out of bed, so it must just depend on the child. I am going to be getting one soon myself so bubs doesn't roll off my bed when he's sleeping with me in the mornings.
lee loo - I asked my mother recently about what she used as cot rails on my sister and I, as we are starting to think to the future when we have to part Matthew from his cot.
What she used to do was put the dining chairs with their backs to the bed. She started off with them along the length of the bed and then started to slowly take one away each time. She said by the time she removed them all, we didn't have any trouble staying in the bed.
She said it worked just fine as she doesn't remember the bed rails being around in her time. So if you want to save some money, try this option.
