I HATE rockers!!!!

i had problems last winter with DS not sleeping he was 7mths and i wrapped him and then hew was about 11mths when we stopped it, it was a lifesaver and had no cranky bub !!! and i love the fisher price papasan , get your hands on one , we used it for day naps until he was big enough to sleep in the cot ,, it too was a lifesaver !!

I'm not going to get into the whole CC debate....I just wanted to say that I got a hammock a few weeks ago and my little man has pretty much put himself to sleep nearly every single day and night sleep and he now also sleeps a lot longer. I wrap DS then cuddle for a few minutes untill he is sleepy then I put him down. I think they are fantastic...and you can hire them fairly cheaply, just google "hire for baby", they have lots of outlets.

Ben - I think the secret here for yours and Meg's sanity is accepting as well as you can that babies do exactly what Isabell is doing. Whether you advocate CC or would fight against it with all you have, babies cry! It is exhausting. It can be demoralising, depressing and frustrating but that's the package deal. My DD#1 had all her day sleeps on me for the first 5 months and then we graduated to her going to sleep on me so I could then put her down. It took until 10 months of age for us to be able to put her down for the night at 7.30 pm. Until then it was anything up until 11pm. I found I went pretty nutty fighting her to get it any other way and as soon as I accepted it, the better it was for all of us. You definitely need to still keep trying to get her to settle on her own, but your little girl is so tiny. If she goes to sleep better while you're holding her, look at it as the blessing it is that you are cradling your daughter in your arms.

And like someone said previously (sorry - forgot who), you will think you've got it going perfectly and something else will happen - a growth spurt, a tooth, a cold etc and it will all go out the window again for a while.

Hang in there, take deep breaths and try to see beyond the screaming so you can enjoy this very precious time with your daughter because they grow way too damn fast.

Totally agree, i DO accept it, and i know meg does as well. I know its what babies do but it doesnt make it any easier. The most frustrating thing for me is when she can't be pleased and its scream scream scream. I hope you didnt get the impression that i'm on here bagging her out because i'm not. Call it venting if you will

Hi suse - its going okay thanks for asking (sorry i have a bad habit of not following my own threads lol). Im not still going off my rocker (hehe stupid things), im fairly placid today even though its been a bit of a cr@ppy one. Isabell is in bed asleep for the night now though so meg and i are just enjoying it. I feel bad though coz meg is very tired, but im making her have an early night so she can have a good sleep.
We are considering buying one of the swinger/hammock things, but i just hope its not too late and that she'll only go for the dumb rocker or our arms (although she did have a nice sleep in my arms today and was so so sooo cute )

Lol, you crack me up. But your right i didnt ask for a debate on it.
For the record, im all for it.. Meg is a fence sitter - she cant make up her mind, so i try not to push the issue anymore.

Ben, I'm glad to hear that yesterday was a better day for you. It's so sweet when they sleep in your arms! I'm sorry I entered into the whole cc debate in your thread, I was really just trying to say what Lulu said (but not nearly so well!) that it's so much easier if you can accept that what your baby is doing is normal. It is so hard with your first baby, it's all so new, and somehow not like anyone described But it sounds like you're both coping really well, and making the most of enjoying your little princess

Ben, I'm glad you had a lovely 'in arms' sleep yesterday - they are pretty special. That's the thing with babies, just when you think that you can't handle any more screaming/lack of sleep/etc, they go and do something so amazingly beautiful that gives you the strength to keep going.
