After reading all the replies there is absoloutly no label that fits me, im a bit of all of it & I just dont see why we need to judge
Im a little concerned you feel you need to have a mummy label. Parenting comes in all different colours and smell's...we all tread down the same road, some have more pot holes and rocks then others but we all end up at the same destination in the end.

Please dont feel like you have to put the added pressure to perform to a certian standard. Being a mum is big enough 'label' for anyone in my eyes.

this were I can give you a big and offer you a shoulder.

Ive been there...and as hard as it was at the time, I see it now as a greiving process. I longed to be the mother I should have been and I fell into the mother I had to be to survive. Instead of following our gutt we were made to believe what others said was gospile and followed their lead, labelling our child and ourselves in the process.

It was extremely hard on me....on my relationship, on my children, on everything! As soon as we decided to choose to drop this 'label' that was given to us and go with what we believed we were also quesitioned, called intimidating, agressive..you name it.

Society has far to many wall's and one sighted fool's in it. I think we have forgotten how to relax and believe in ourselves. Life is far to short and we are powerless to slow time but we can change for the positive for the sake of our children.

    My new motto
Dont hug a tree....hug your babies....they branching out on their own soon enough

BP - i have to agree that trying to find a label that fits you will have you trying to change to fit a label - or leave you feeling like crap because you don't fit

labels are generic. no one exactly fits any one parenting philosophy unless it's their OWN parenting philosophy! that's what you have to do - you have to find contentment with your own parenting and not allow labels to influence you

i am someone that is trying to parent very differently to how i was parented. as a result, i tend to look for answers in the gentle parent threads. it's not that i subscribe to and expect to be a text book gentle parent - it's more that the information there is more what i want to read. i don't want to have to read 30 threads to find one that fits what i'm after - that's why the site is divided up. it also means, if i'm after a solution to a problem that fits what i want to do (discipline, sleeping or whatever) i post in the area that represents that type of answers i'm looking for. pointless posting and getting page after page of well meaning replies that don't fit my parenting philosophies

you are doing what you need to do for your family. that's where your focus needs to be. don't focus on a label - i can assure you, no one else is trying to label you! just focus on your family and you'll be ok

I'll be exactly the same. Which gives me the label 'Awesome Parent' I reckon.

BP, Lulu and Sherie's comments are related to my observations of automotive derros. It was a Facebook thing. You can have any sticker on your car that you want, even a gentle parent one
