BP - i have to agree that trying to find a label that fits you will have you trying to change to fit a label - or leave you feeling like crap because you don't fit

labels are generic. no one exactly fits any one parenting philosophy unless it's their OWN parenting philosophy! that's what you have to do - you have to find contentment with your own parenting and not allow labels to influence you

i am someone that is trying to parent very differently to how i was parented. as a result, i tend to look for answers in the gentle parent threads. it's not that i subscribe to and expect to be a text book gentle parent - it's more that the information there is more what i want to read. i don't want to have to read 30 threads to find one that fits what i'm after - that's why the site is divided up. it also means, if i'm after a solution to a problem that fits what i want to do (discipline, sleeping or whatever) i post in the area that represents that type of answers i'm looking for. pointless posting and getting page after page of well meaning replies that don't fit my parenting philosophies

you are doing what you need to do for your family. that's where your focus needs to be. don't focus on a label - i can assure you, no one else is trying to label you! just focus on your family and you'll be ok
