    Teething?

We had the worst night ever last night and I'm feeling exhausted and a bit down. DD was so restless. She wouldn't go to sleep in her cot, when she was in with us she seemed to be half asleep but was wriggling around, making noise, letting out the odd cry. I didn't get to sleep until 3am and she was up again at 6!

Could it be teething? When she got her bottom 2 teeth she was fine. She also has a snotty nose and wants to BF all the time. She's hardly eating any food either. She seems to be addicted to the boob!!! I'm about to head out and get some formula coz I think maybe I need a break. Maybe I'm not producing enough milk. I don't know what's up but some advice would be greatly appreciated.

    A very sleepy Jen

Oh Jen, what a horrible night for you, no wonder you're feeling down. You said she has a snotty nose, do you think perhaps she is becoming sick and that's why she isn't sleeping well and is keen on a comforting booby? I know when my nose is stuffed up I wake up all the time, then spend the next day feeling sorry for myself. Perhaps Isla (lovely name by the way) is the same? I reckon you are producing plenty of milk for her, the factory always adjusts to the demand so if she temporarily wants more, you'll make more. Anyway, I think it isn't so much about hunger as it is about her being unwell and wanting a comforting booby to help her feel better. I'm sure in a few days she'll be over it and be much better - not much consolation I know right now, but it will pass, just take a deep breath, have a small cry in a corner if you need to, and keep on keeping on.

I agree with feathertop, if she has a cold, then she won't want to sleep. Nina always has a rough sleep when she has a cold, hates sleeping on her back. Give it a few days. If she is teething, and it's the top teeth coming through, then they possibly could be giving her some grief as they do hurt the little ones.
Are you giving her anything for her cold, Dimetapp or Demazin?
