DS1 only has water or milk most of the time and he's nearly 3! As a treat he will ask for "lemon" which is water with some frsh lemon juice squeezed in. He has had straight juice or even soft drink when we're out, but really is just as happy with his version of "juice".

Oh - and he loves cinos - just frothed milk, sometimes with a marshmellow in it as a treat!

DD drinks h20 during the day and only 1 cup formula at night.
    So not abnormal at all
Occasionally i make her a milkshake or fruit smoothie - i figure this is better than fruit juice

DD1 drinks water, milk (cows milk with some toddler formula), baby juice from the boxes every now and then and milk shakes (cows milk with banana and strawberries and some toddler formula mixed in), DD2 drinks the same but not the baby juice (although she has tasted it).

My girls dont have soft drink, tea, coffee or cordial as they are so so young, they will get enough of it when they are older.

My DD1 does get the end of my orange juice of a morning as I've been using it to have my iron pills, she only gets a small amt tho.

    Cheers,

    Beck

Only milk and water here for my 2.5 year old. My sister's little girl who is 4 refuses to drink anything other than juice or strong cordial, imagine all that sugar - she is very hyper. You could say I've learnt from my sisters mistakes. Why offer them something that they don't really need at least until they realise what is out there anyway. My son loves his water throughout the day and has milk morning and night. Everyone is always offering him cordial and softdrink and I tell them water is fine, they look at me as though I'm a mean parent but infact it is the exact opposite.

milk and water are the main things my DS drinks , when we are out or at a party juice (somethimes watered down sometimes not) is allowed , but my mum and mil give him softdrink , grrrr i dont even drink it ..... but its the 80/20 rule here , 80% of his diet is great and 20% is treat or food you buy when your out ...

its not easy to control what your kids eat when your out , but as long as they brush their teeth and expend their energy then i think they are ok !!

I was much "better" with my first two children... basically only milk and water and diluted juice until they were about 3yo. With my current 2yo toddler he will just grab any drink my 4yo or teenager leaves lying around. Whatever my 4yo demands my 2yo has to have (I make it more dilute). In winter they start the day with a very dilute hot chocolate. I'm still BFing my 2yo so actually his day starts with a BF in bed (and ends the same way too with often a lunch-time BF as well).

One thing I have never used are "toddler artificial milk" the stuff in a tin that looks like formula. What a complete waste of money that would be. I guess some children might need it if they are having trouble consuming solids but even then by 2yo they should be able to have smoothies etc with some blended superfoods like In-Liven etc.

Both my DSs - 3 1/2 and nearly 2 - only drink water and cows' milk. It's all they've ever had and they don't miss anything else. This is in fact all they should be drinking, so don't doubt yourself, you are doing a great job. Many parents give juice but this is not a good thing. It is bad for children (and adults if we are going to get technical!) and also can have the effect that it makes them want sweet drinks all the time so they drink less water. Stick with what you are doing hun, well done to you.

Milk, water, diluted juice or cordial (on special occasions) and for a real treat when we are out a milkshake shared with her sister. No softdrink at all whatsoever. He actually asks for water more than anything else, both my kids do. I think because I never made a fuss over YOU MUST DRINK WATER they don't see it as a chore. But then I love water too so maybe thats why.

You are doing a great job!!! Keep the juices and uneccessary drinks away for as long as possible. If anyone questions why my girls don't have juice I just tell them that is it not recommended by the dentist!!!!

My DD is nearly two and a half and she has mostly water and a bf morning and night. She has a small cup of tea (using on of our already dunked tea bags and a lot of milk) for an occasional treat and sometimes a smoothie (normally home made) or a plain cows milk. A babycino a few times (another treat). And when we go to church on Sunday she has a little bit of (very diluted) cordial at supper. She once wanted to try a soft drink and I let her go ahead because she tried to drink it too fast and I imagine got bubbles up her nose 'cause she pulled away and made a face! Hasn't asked since...

Charlie drank only milk and water until he was two, but my DH now buys him juice and the occasional choc milk when we're out. He has never had soft drinks before though.

Milk and water here too. If we are out I get her a 'babycino' (just frothed milk) so she thinks she is a big grown up girl and she loves it!

DD is allowed diluted juice with a meal, but otherwise it's just water. She knows not to ask for juice between meals. Milkshakes are milk mixed with fruit. I want to avoid soft drink for as long as possible. She's nearly 3.

Water, milk and juice. I fill up their juice cups once a day and that has to last them - once thats gone, they have water. I find my girls ask for water over juice anyway. On special occassions i allow the older one a small cup of fizzy drink.
