heaven- we bought my rocking chair from ebay when i was pg with ds1. from memory i think it was about $300 but it has been one of the best investments we've made- the cushion is nearly worn out from overuse!
i wrap ds2 up really tight in a big thick polarfleece blanket, sit in the rocking chair and rock him till he's really asleep and then manage to be able to put him down without him noticing, i think partly cos he's wrapped up so thickly iykwim? so he doesn't seem to notice the transition. might be worth a try for you?

When i saw the MCHN last she suggested sleep school for a day stay but I'm a bit scared, I don't know what methods they use.

I think I will look for a rocking chair! Thanks rainforest!

Well when Zane got to big to rock i used to sit in a chair put a pillow under his head and lay him down on my knees and bounce him that way (I know very funny!) and then like you DD about 5 minutes later he was asleep so i would lay him and the pillow in his cot I'll add at this point that he was 12 months and the pillow was very flat. Then he got to long so I would just pat his back in the cot till he got to sleep, but if he ever woke in the middle of the night he couldn't settle himself we had to help him. It reached boiling point for us when he started getting molars and DH was away for weeks on end and i could have spent half the night settling and then by the time I got back to bed and nearly asleep he would wake again. Now by NO means what so ever am i saying this will happen to you as I said earlier every bub is different. So 2 months ago (approx) we got the Baby Whisperer out and she went through some techniques with us and now Zane goes to bed at about 6.30pm to 7am the next day, he does wake in the night but I no longer need to go into him all the time, obviously there are still nights where his cry is "pain" so of course I'm in there in a flash. He also climbed out of his cot so we moved him to his single bed and he doesn't come out of his room he knows now "sleep time" is exactly that, Same as for his day sleeps. I guess what i'm trying to say is that even if she doesn't "grow out of it" then there is help available to you if you need it, Just don't suffer in silence like I did. My GP put me onto the baby whisperer and I'm in brisbane, i'm sure there would be something like that in your area or something similar if you feel like thats an avenue you might like to explore. Huge Hugs Hunni, whether she grows out of it or not I promise you won't be doing it forever!!

I'm not sure hun it might be, As I said my GP reccomended her, but chances are she has been on TV? Her name is Rene Ree's?? I'm not sure if I'm allowed to "advertise" her details to you on an open forum so I'll PM them to you.

I found her service to be absolutley fantastic!! She comes to your house and goes over all aspects of parenting with you so diet, sleep, disipline(for those older ones) stress and coping stategies for parents etc. She does not use contolled crying if that is what you are worried about? I would not have coped with CC, She works with you and your baby to get a method that will work for you both, obviously there is some crying involved but in our case it was because we were all so over tired and stressed out and it wasn't just DS, i jumped on the crying band wagon too and she did not make me feel silly in any way more normal if anything. She is expensive she cost a little over $300.00 and was here for 2 1/2 hours so a little pricey, but I can honestly say I owe her my sanity and would recomend her to any parent who has difficulties with their bub/toddlers/kids sleeping.

You might not feel though you are ready to take a step in this direction yet, so please don't feel like I'm pushing you, thats the last thing I'm doing, Just offering another option....

Thanks BB I got your PM.
You're right about not being ready though. I need to get more motivated first. At the moment it's not enough of a problem for me to be persistent enough to do something major and I feel like I'd give up iykwim? So that would be a waste of money, lol. So my plan is I'm going to try the stuff from the no cry sleep solution book first. Hopefully that works but if not then I have other options, thankyou!!

I also highly recommend a rocking chair... even though my babies have all grown out of being needed to be rocked to sleep it was a good investment and I still enjoy using it
