    when to use a pillow

just wanted to see what the recommended age or personal opinions are on when a pillow should/can be introduced for a toddler to sleep on. DD is 22 months old and sleeps without a pillow in her cot but we are thinking about moving her to a bed in about 3-4 months, but not sure when to give her a pillow. any advice?

my dd is 19 months, she has been in a bed sonce xmas, and we havent given her a pillow yet. i think she is more comfortable without one at the moment, i also worry about he smothering herself with a pillow..

ill be interested to see what other people have done regards to pillows!

We went from no pillow to the flat Ikea toddler bed/cot pillow at about 20mth with DS...with DD I can't remember but she is 18mths now and using the Ikea one.
But they are good and flatish so a good transition one I guess before a big pillow (good price too )

DS was moved to a bed at 13 months from our bed (altho he still spent majority of the time in our bed lol) and he was used to being between our pillows, so I had a pillow in his bed for him to be next to. But even now at 22 months he doesn't sleep ON the pillow, it's still just next to him

I think it's not recommended to use a pillow before 12 months, but you will probably find they won't use it anyway because they're used to lying flat.

I don't think they need one at all. We bought a "First pillow" (it's thinner) for Jack when we moved him to a bed at about 16 months, but he only sometimes sleeps on it. He doesn't have one at day care and could easily sleep without it. He is nearly 3 now.

Can't imagine dd using one She moves soooo much at night that her feet would end up on the pillow

I know that she has one in her cot at day-care, but I am sure they take it out for her nap times, but at home she still sleeps flat. She does have a spitrag that sleeps next to her, that she kind-of cuddle, but I think she prefer to be flat.
