Yep i have told her to leave and go to the other hospital in town. She is apparently at the "best hospital" for high risk, so she thought maybe there was no point going to the smaller hospital, but i seriously think a 2nd opinion is needed. I will let you know how she goes!
Yes definitely go to another hospital for another opinion, the poor girl, I know this may sound a bit gross but would it be worth her taking some of the pads in, to prove the amount of bleeding.
Oh I'm so sorry to hear of your friends situation... does she have a "bossy" mother or older person who can go and stand up for her... I can't believe they'd let her go home!!!
Beema, maybe gross, but probably not a bad idea!! She is home at the moment, i have linked her to this thread so she can have a read, and i am trying to get her to at least call the other hospital!!!
If she's hesitant to go back to the hospital - and I can understand why, given the previous reaction - get her to ring Health Direct. They'll most likely send an ambulance. Since when is bleeding during pregnancy something to be brushed off?!
Your poor friend. I agree it doesn't sound right at all!
I am surprised and a little shocked they are waiting so long. I would think under the extreme circumstances they would deliver bub sooner than later.
I had a classical c-section for #6 and I was told that I would never be able to have a vaginal birth again because the risk of a uterine rupture is to high.
When pregnant with #7 I really tried to find someone to do a VBAC but no-one would even entertain the idea.
Can you go with her to the hospital?? I cannot believe that she is losing that much blood and they aren't doing anything!!! I'd shove the pad in their faces and say "that is not a plug you douchebag" LOL..

It does sound very odd. There have been a lot of recent calls to stop scheduling caesareans for non emergency situations before 39 weeks, due to the extra trouble babies have breathing for lack of those few extra days in the womb. It may be that your friend's doctor has weighed up the pros and cons of waiting a few days, and decided that the extra risk of her giving birth now (to her child) is not worth it considering the baby is currently coping well.
However if she is concerned about the bleeding then she needs to ask for a 2nd opinion. She can ask for one from within the hospital, wait until another doctor comes on shift for example. I like Mrs Bexie's idea of keeping the pads (although not shoving it in their faces because ewwww) but this will demonstrate exactly what her loss is and they can discuss with her what levels they are happy with before they would consider it to be a bleed and not a show.
hi, just poking my head in and adding that a 'classical csec' which is where the cut goes from top to bottom is a contraindication for VBAC, the chance of uterine rupture is really high, and i havent heard of anywhere actually allowing one (a VBAC with a classical) to happen. the LUSCS (where the cut is on you bikini line) is ok for VBAC (as the lower segment of the uterus is formed differently to the rest of it), so i know im thinking worse case and really horrible things, and i would think the hosptial would have considered this, and been checking it out (the fact bub is still ok is a good thing, as bub being unwell is normally the first sign)
let me know how she goes!! I hope it gets worked out and bub and mum are ok!

Well she is heading to the other hospital soon, (thank goodness!!!) I linked her to this thread, and now though she is a bit scared, but hopefully this hospital will help her more than the other one!!!!

Well the poor girl waiting all friday but didnt get to go in for the csection til yesterday morning!!!
Thor was born healthy and well at 8lb 2 ... 35.5 hc ....50cm length! Mum and bub are doing great!!!! Such a nice releif to know he is out and well!!! :-)
