Embarrassing moments in labour

honestly while ur in labour you dont care,
imy BIL and SIL were both there for my labour they seen everything,
I pooed while giving birth which my SIL seen LOL
and i discussed my hemeroids with my BIL right next to me..
at the time you couldnt care less..

I reckon you'd be less likely to poo in labour if you have a non-induced birth. In early labour, most women get the runs, their body is clearing out for the impending birth. But if you are induced, you haven't started that process, so it would be interesting to see the difference... I know that happened to me, I had the runs, and no probs with anything else coming out in labour.

my miudwife helped me go number 2s as i was constipated she made me feel comfy as an inducment i had no tiime to uhhh empty them and i was so far into labour i didnt care lmao

I had similar thoughts when I was preparing for DDs birth but when I was very unexpectedly admitted to hospital with PE and inductions were being bantied about I got very worried about pooing during labour because I wouldn't get the runs etc that you normally do in natural labour.

I went into hossie on Friday afternoon - on Saturday morning I made sure I emptied my bowels in case I was induced that day but I wasn't induced. On Sunday morning I made sure I emptied my bowels but I couldn't (slight constipation) and then they told me that that was the day I would be induced due to my liver function and I pannicked

During labour I kept asking to go to the toilet... I never did get that poo out on the toilet or in the throws of labour but I did reach a point where I would not have cared if I did.

The next day though I was a pooping machine LOL

FWIW, I went into labour naturally, never cleared out before labour, and didn't poo during . And I couldn't have two hoots who saw me in what state, during ANY stage of my labour. You have a job to do, you just do it in the way that feels best

I pooped with DS1 and never knew until I was told later (seriously...did you have to tell me?) - really hoped I wouldn't do it again & I'm pretty sure i did with DD2. By that stage, as everyone else has said - I couldn't care less
I will admit though, it's not a nice thing to anticipate

Well thanks for all your speedy replies Haha i figured it would be something that I would probably have no control over it... guess its just the thought haha and the joking my husband will probably say to me after lol. Vomiting or being naked doesn't faze me in the slightest... even weeing i can probably handle the thought of lol... guess i'll get over it at the time

Do not be scared of labour it is natural as doing a poo..
i would say stop watching bad media birth stereotypes, hop on to you tube check out some normal birth

Have found quite a few that i found really lovely to watch and helpful. That's actually been my relaxant when i get nervous lol...i hate the unexpected!

As Kelly and others have said, by the time you're down to the business end of birth, you will not be worrying about a thing. You may even feel some satisfaction in later finding out you pooped on the hand of the person who said 'just breathe' or something.

Oh i can only hope lol!!

i certainly was embarassed about been naked or pooing, i was more embarassed when i remembered talking to my midwife and dr about not stitching too close to the 'good bits' i.e clitoris (had a labial tear) whilst high on gas!

See i would probably be more inclined to say 'stitch it all up so my husband can't make me do this again lol

I wish this had happened to me! Both my labours were spontaneous. Maybe I'll make the effort to go when I first get contractions this time around. Even though second time around I wasn't embarrassed...I did have an "oh no, I've pooed" moment.

Oh Kirley hun, our DD was born 6 weeks ago and I was worried about the poo thing too. It didnt happen but if I felt like I needed to go I sat on the toilet in the labour room, besides it was a really good height than the birth stool. The midwives were very good at keeping everything low key and as private as possible. I remember many women told me that when your fully in labour you wont care. I did, I think everyone is different. I laboured in a bikini top in the shower and then I switched to a girly nighty when I got out. I even remember saying I dont want to poo, which even though I was reassured was fine I still felt like you do now.
Labour is one of the most amazing miracles your body will ever experience!I didnt believe that you instinctively know what to do until I birthed our little miracle. Good luck!

:yeahthat: I was so horribly constipated from all the iron tablets I was taking to try to get on top of the anemia that there was no way I was going to go until I needed to go, if that makes any sense. When I did poo during labour (shortly after I was put on my knees over the end of the bed), it was so hard and dry and pellety that nobody was aware I had except me - I had to ask the midwife to clean me up.

As for the "good bits"... More ... I tore straight through my clitoris. It still works.

If you're in a place where you're embarassed in labour, your not in strong enough labour lol. Once in full blown active labour, you don't even care who's in the room while you pee with the door open. Labour takes your full attention that you don't notice. Seriously.

I was induced and was on the loo every 15-20 minutes while at the period pain stage. So no, I'm not sure if this is the case.

ouchies BW i almost tore upwards but the middie pushed down so that didnt happen

i didnt poo before during or after it might have been the iron tablets

i was naked the second time i got out of the shower untill i had a shower after DS was born the pain made the embarassment disappear DH my mum and MIL got to see all this was after my stepdad left thankfully lol

i spewed before and after i sat up after having him

...you know what? i dont even know if i did poo or not LOL!! oh my gosh...i am unobservant LOL! it was a bit of a fear of mine, but the moment my waters broke i forgot about everything else and just went into 'baby's coming out' mode ITMS...

if i did poop i hope it was all over the OB i had LOL!

i was told in our antental class that the pooing/vomiting thing is also a sign they use to know that bubs is really close to arriving as during transition the whole body becomes soo focused on getting the baby out, that it kinda decides to 'expel' excess stuff that it was processing, so as to just focus on the baby ITMS. so, you vomit because your body has decided that it's doing way more important stuff than simple food digestion...gosh, the m/w was able to describe it soo much better than me LOL! but i hope you get my drift LOL!

Lol you'll be fine hun I managed to clear everything out in the first stage of my induction with DD1, but DD2 was a spontaneous labour and I was again really prone to constipation, I thought I'd got it all out of my system when I went into labour but nope - poor DH had to clean up after me while the midwife was out of the room lol We laugh about it now, but I still get a bit embarrassed... at the time I didn't give a rats' because there was a freaking baby stuck in my vag and I needed to get it OUT NOW lol, I was like, 'Oop, get some paper towels, please' but other than that, I didn't care.

It all seems so scary before you go through it, but then when you're actually doing it, the embarrassment factor is the furthest thing from your mind! I was pacing around the labour suite naked from the waist down, the midwife had to offer me a gown as it was 4am and she worried that someone outside might see into the well-lit room and get an eyeful lol I'm usually very prudish about my naked body but had zero qualms about my backside hanging out in front of her during labour... I just wanted to meet my baby!

I felt like I need to poo during "early labour". Looking back I wasn't in early labour anymore and it was the baby coming..... oops!

I did poo a bit during labour, and the mw cleaned it up so quickly I barely even noticed. It was at this point that I was getting about starkers with the door open, and in a bright room with the curtains open (at night) with other buildings looking in. I couldn't have cared less hehe.

I didn't feel embarrassed once during labour - not even when I asked my best friend to rub my bum because it felt nice
