Thanks for your responses ladies. I now know the effects the pethidine had on me seem to be not all that uncommon. It was a side effect I knew nothing of though. I do remember the midwife telling me it would probably make me feel dizzy, dull the pain for me and make me a bit floppy, and possibly vomit, but I had no idea on the possible memory loss and dont remember this being mentioned.

I'm not going to say I regret using it, but i probably should have asked more questions or done more research beforehand... but i guess you dont think of asking more questions when youre having an almightly contraction while the midwife is explaining pethidine to you. I guess I am just a bit disappointed that I dont remember a whole chunk of it and DH has had to tell me what happened.
