we had a rule that we didn't accept visitors until the next day with both my c/sections - unless called prior. DH sms'd or rang a while after the birth to let people know but due to the unknown of pain etc after c/section - plus making sure we had time to ourselves - that was my rule.

my parents live by the rule that they won't come up until they are rung and told they can whether that be straight after or days after - thats just the type or people they are.
