Often these pre labour contractions are about getting the baby in the best position to be born. So even if they don't feel like they are "doing anything" or you aren't dilating, they are still useful. And circumventing that process by going for an induction might stop them being able to do what they are trying to do. But I do feel for you - with one of my kids I had prodromal labour for a month and I was DONE DONE DONE by the time she arrived a day after he due date (after a very quick labour).
