Good luck hun, hopefully things either settle down a bit or ramp right out and get this baby out!
Remember to stay calm and trust your body, just remember you don't NEED an internal, i never got one with either of my girls even when they said i don't think you will go anytime soon i 'knew' in myself what was going on, with DD2 they checked my contractions (MW feeling these no internal or monitoring) and said progressing a bit but think it will eb a while as i was only 5min apart and supposedly not strong enough... i knew different and DD was born 20min later.

Go with your gut, stay strong and rest as much as you can.

hey hun, I sooo know where you are coming from, I went through exactly the same thing, cxs every 5-10 mins for DAYS!! BH my ass! I was having pre labour....I just wanted to let you know though, I dont want to scare you, But in hindsight, I wish I hadve stayed at home longer, I went in for my 40wk antenatal appt and told the ob what had been happening, she did an internal (mind u I had already been sent home twice already, once thinking my water had broken, another when I was in soo much pain, they gave me panadeine fte and sent me home) I was 3cm, she said get upstairs, were inducing you, so ARM, drip, constant monitoring and 10 hrs and NO progression later I ended up with an unnecessarean. Thats just what happened to me though, I didnt follow my instincts, I was excited and just wanted it OVER.
So I do know how you feel, but please, try to relax, (easier said than done, I know!) Have faith that your body is doing what it should. Keep trying to find ways to make yourself comfortable, if it works stick with it!
Good luck hun, thinking of you xxx

Good luck. Go get checked if you want to, but if you can think about coming on here for updates, you're still ok
Just don't let them talk you into anything you don't want. Maybe ask for some penedeine forte & go home again. The better you sleep, the more likely things will happen. All my labours started, or progressed from pre labour while I was asleep, because my body was so relaxed & it could happen.
    Take it easy hun x

If they come near you holding a thing that looks like a crochet hook, kick em in the head. (just my advice)

You poor thing, pre-labour really really sucks. It's so exhausting, I had it for 4 weeks with DD2. Don't let them encourage you to have an unecessary S&S, to get your waters broken or anything like that. What your body is doing is perfectly normal.

Hey, FirstTime, I hope you got some rest last night? If you feel that you need or want to go to the hospital, then of course you should go. If you want an internal to tell you where you are at, that is also your choice. And if you do not want an induction to progress your labour, you have every right to refuse! Honestly, I think it's unlikely that the hospital would suggest and induction at 36 +4, they'll want to keep that bubba tucked up in there for a little longer if they can! (Different story if you were post dates...) Anyway, my point is... we can all give you all the advice in the world about what WE would do or what is right for US (all with the best of intentions)... but you need to listen to your body, listen to your heart and remember, this is YOUR pg, YOUR body and YOUR beautiful bubba. Take the rest of us with a grain of salt and do whatever feels right for YOU.

You are doing a fantastic job, I hope you are looking after yourself and getting some rest.

:yeahthat: I just wanted to add, your body needs to do all this. Its never been through labour before & needs to take its time preparing itself. The longer it takes, as annoying as it is, the less it has to do when it comes to the business end of things.
If you took away all these little contractions & put them into about 8 hours, the pain would be hell. Thats what an induction would do. Rather than your body taking its time, the induction would take over & make things move faster & harder & thats when things escelate. Pain relief, epi, c/s. Thats how so many of them end up. Thats why we are all trying to get you to try to relax & take your time
It must be so frusterating for you though

^ Lol to break your waters and get things moving I had it with both labours, DD1 was induced so it was a necessity, DD2 I asked for it after being at 10cm for a couple of hours and not getting any further, I was getting tired so wanted ARM to just get her out so I could rest!!

Been thinking of you constantly hun, I'm sending you all the positive labour vibes I can!! Hope it's all over soon for you and that you're coping okay with the constant pain and wondering whether this is it Good luck!!!

Best luck - it is exhausting, isn't it?

Often these pre labour contractions are about getting the baby in the best position to be born. So even if they don't feel like they are "doing anything" or you aren't dilating, they are still useful. And circumventing that process by going for an induction might stop them being able to do what they are trying to do. But I do feel for you - with one of my kids I had prodromal labour for a month and I was DONE DONE DONE by the time she arrived a day after he due date (after a very quick labour).

Ok so i just rang the hospital and this is what i was told:

If i was in REAL labour i wouldnt be able to talk during the contractions i would be panting too much. She said that it takes a while for the cervix to thin and come forward and being my first baby it would take a few days. She told me to have panadol and go to bed. And things should increase in 24-48 hours.

Being my first baby i have no idea if she is right or not..
I really hate that attitude. I can speak during contractions in transition for goodness' sake. Not everyone has massive agony while they are in labour. Grrrrr.

For me - I had an internal and was told there was no way I was having DD anytime soon, see you in a couple of weeks. She made her appearance two days later. It isn't worth going through the discomfort. Hope you've been able to get a little bit of rest.

Oh and a tip for DP - when it is time, make sure he remembers to eat and drink too!!!!! My DH was so focused on looking after me (god love him) that after DD was born and I hit the shower, he was holding DD and nearly passed out because he hadn't had anything to eat or drink in over 12 hours!!!!!!

Oh dont worry DP is very about himself, oh and me too LOL but on friday when it all started, because he just left for work i had packed him lunch i called him to say i think im in labour and he met us in the hospital. While in the birth suite he got out his lunch and ate it right infront of me LOL i was starving!

But your DH is a sweetheart to go 12 hours not thinking of himself! but a silly bugger to go that long too!!! lol

naawww i really hope you are getting in lots of rest, its very important & with my first i was induced but i had also lost my waters so i couldnt go to over 24hrs with no bub, i agree with others try & let ur body do this as i was kept on a bed for 5+hrs and i got sooo cranky only allowed to move for the toilet, hoping this time i can go completely natural, goodluck once again i hope things move on for u & stay strong

as for Dp's mine would work all night then come into me and bub during the day and stay until the poor thing had to go back to work that night, i felt horrible for him even though i had just had the bub, he showed how much he cared for us
