    tummy dropping=labour impending?

    Hi Ladies,
I hope you can advise;proffessional or otherwise. I have a question?? It has been ten years since i have delivered a baby and i'm pregnant again(only early)however my experience and memories are somewhat vague and dated.
My little sister(who is 27)is due on May 13th has not dropped yet. Her appetite hasnt diminished and she is still very lethargic. She also has not dropped and is carrying very high. To me these are indicators that she may in fact last till her due date or even go past it. I am her labour support person and so far all of her pregnancy has been opposite to mine. I dropped very early and with both babies had dilated 3-4cms at 36weeks without any pain and had very quick labours. What i'm trying to ascertain is whether some women dont actually drop until their waters break. So does a lower belly indicate impending labour?Or not neccessarily? Thanks in advance for any help be it persoanl or proffessional.

Hi Pollyanna, I carried very high all through my pregnancy and only dropped after my waters broke. There was absolutely no indication that I would go into labour at that time as I was not quite 38 weeks, carrying high and had just eaten a whole vegetarian pizza to myself So basically you don't have to drop before going into labour.

I'm not sure if baby engaging, or dropping is an impending sign of labour or not, but this article (about baby engaging) on the main BB site might be helpful to both you & your sister
