Oh Tash, you write so well! I LOL'ed at that the image of Leo's little bum with a plum presenting to the world *grin
Loved the detail - a terrific source of info for anyone facing (bumming ) a breech birth.

It has taken me all day to read this Tashybabe. I have had the window open but wanted to be able to give it my full attention. Plus, I guess I knew what was coming and I wanted to be prepared. Not something you had the luxury of.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. Your attitude to your birth is amazing. I was actually prepared for this before you even gave birth based on your posts on BB while you were pregnant. I had read your posts in various sections and was so looking forward to following your journey through your birth and beyond. I still am now. The insight you have here and the story you have told is inspiring, emotional and human and shows you to be quite an incredible person.

Allowing people to learn from your experience, not just now but also during the birth when you realised Leo was a breech is so wonderful. You are such a giving, open person. The benefits of this can not be measured but they are huge. It is a bit like that movie 'Pay it forward'. Little bits of kindness to a few people can extend to reach so many more so quickly. I have a friend whose baby died very shortly after birth last year and I have learnt so much more about it from your story. Your story will have an effect so many people this way. In addition, a breech birth! The medical profession saw it was possible when before their eyes a powerful woman gave birth to her son. It is inspiring and a gift to the next women who present with their baby bum first. Congratulations.

I'm sorry you missed out on your homebirth, but so happy you were able to have a natural delivery. I imagine it makes you feel that much closer to dear little Leo. I was so happy to read about the fabulous support you had from your DH and the wonderful midwife. You chose well and all that work preparing for Leo's birth really paid off to have such wonderful people around you so that you were able to birth your way. How wonderful to have felt him moving down your birth canal, to have felt him kicking. Wonderful but still, it is not enough in some ways as you really deserved to have your baby boy in your arms as you went home. It is such an unfair thing Tashybabe but you have described it with an incredible air of grace and strength and I have learnt a lot for reading it.

What an wonderful job you did, breech and all! And how fantastic that you could allow others who wouldn't normally have witnessed a breech to be there - I'm sure that will help other women who want to also birth their babies vaginally. Good on you.

I'm so, so sad that Leo couldn't stay. You must miss him so much. Sending you light.
