DD is 23 months old today - and we're still going strong!!

i NEVER thought we'd make it past about 6 months - i was determined to make it work at the start but i had no age in mind - and really thought six months would be it. 23 months and still going strong (she is showing no signs of weaning - mummy is tempted sometimes but i just can't bring myself to make that call for her....)

We've made it to 10.5months so far, and breastfeeding whilst pregnant! Sometimes I admit it is draining, but I can't take him off the boob yet, he's still my little baby

How old is she clover? DS did that around 6-ish months I think, but no teeth till 8. Gumming hurts!!

6.5 months
2 of mine got teeth around 7 - 7.5 months & the other at 5.5 months, so I reckon in the next 2 - 4 weeks we'll have one.

We've started using a dummy overnight. She's wanting to suck, but keeps pulling off the boob, coz she doesn't want to drink. So if she's tired enough to accept the dummy she has it.

We've also just introduced a bottle a few weeks ago. She started on a cup at around 5 months, just for amusement, but she's not a car baby, so I try to take a bottle with me every time I leave the house. Such a relief she accepts it. DS refused a bottle til the end!

We got to 6 months with no formula, but I haven't had the time to get much EBM in the freezer, so bought some sachets. I'm not much of an expresser...

Well S has silent reflux, which explained the frequent feeding and fussiness. Since she has been on the Zantac she feeds every 2 hours during the day (I burp then put her on the same side to make sure she had fully drained it) then 2 hours later she will have the other side.

No more fussiness either!!!! So I'm not thinking of formula any more....

My turn for a little happy dance woooohoooo 19 months today!!!! Where on earth did that 19 months go?!? I mean, really, I turned around and my tiny sleepy newborn was a walking, talking little girl

Yay for breastfeeding! I'm currently boobing my 5 week old, but still feed dd twice a day (she's 27 months). It's been a great way to stay connected to her during this transition phase...she luuuuurves booby still.

Mel, silent reflux sux! Dd had it, but I didn't realize until she was 12 weeks...it explained her until she exploded pattern and scream-athons...ds has some symptoms but it's manageable.

Yay for all the boobs out there feeding our babies!

Well done to all the long termers!! I'm celebrating 9 days on the boob with ds lol. we are doing heaps better than with dd, by this stage she was fully bottle fed- I was expressing and she had to be topped up with formula til I could get enough ebm so I'm pretty pleased tho I am feeling I'm missing out on spending time with dd cause all DS seems to do is feed!!

DD had reflux and it really made those first months difficult (and so depressing, wearing so much milk EVERY feed) - once it settled (after starting on solids) it was so much easier to feed and not feel so - i dunno - almost like i was doing something wrong that was causing it.

DD is boobie obsessed at the moment. cutting 2 year old molars, and boob is the only thing that calms her over night - the only way we got any sleep last night was when she was attached - mummy is exhausted!

Hi everyone, been away camping and DD2 used my boobs as her security when tired, over night or just whenever she saw them. Damn they are sore now, going to be a couple of days before she settles down I think.
I love that I'm still bfing but I got 'the looks' while away and am happy to say I stood up for us and our feeding journey.
Do you think I'm just sore from all the 'usage'?

i'd say your boobs are working harder than they were pre-camping trip and will settle over a couple of days - i know when DD feeds more when she isn't well (like last night) i end up sore from constant attachment and from extra milk production

Thanks babe, I thought so, she's been sharing our bed for 2 weeks and basically attaching as she likes, round the clock milking

doesn't matter if i'm proud (though i am!) - it's more about you taking pride in yourself hun!

it's funny, i don't recall getting "the look" or any questions - maybe because i just don't take notice - it's not something i discuss - it is what it is kwim?

i did warn one friend that was here for dinner that DD would be having boob before bed and he had the choice of either accepting it or walking away outside for a smoke or something - he chose to sit in the lounge and nothing was said. He is the only person i've ever warned though - basically i don't even open the conversation - it is just part of our life and bugger anyone that doesn't like it!

So I could possibly have whooping cough and the GP has prescribed a 7 day course of antibiotics called e-mycin (erythromycin). She looked up the info and although it said to use with caution with pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, she thinks it will be ok to take as DD is 16 months and it is the same AB prescribed to children anyway. So I'm thinking it will be ok. Any thoughts? Might just try and time it to take them after I feed her.

I think she'll be fine at that age. They almost always say not when pg or bf, but it's very often just arse-covering.

I have mastitis it came on so quick today! So very sick it's terrible!!! Dr even sent me to the hossy. I've been vomitting too.
Any advice??

I don't have a lot of advice other than feed as much as you can. Massage your boobs in the shower to try and remove blocked ducts. Vitamin c is good for it too. I sympathise. I've had mastitis 3 times in the last 8 weeks
