Question Do you still have 'the hang'?

Just starting a thread wondering if other c/s mummies still have the over hang?

21 months later and I do. I thought it would go away when I lost the baby weight but nope Back down to a healthy weight range, healthy size, back down to where I was but still got that ugly hang

Do you still have it? And if not, how did you get rid of it?

Yes I do, but my tummy always had a slight hang prior to falling pg. My DD is nearly 3 yo.

Leash, i've had it for 8 years. I've had 2 c/s which i don't regret one little bit, but i hate the "apron". I dont think it ever goes away unless you have it surgically removed. I lost about 15 kgs and the hang was still there, it isn't fat, it is excess skin.

Still have mine too. Even though I weigh about 5kg less than when I got pregnant, my stomach looks bigger than it did before because of that lovely over hang bit!
Have just started at the gym and trying hard to get it under control... I can feel it jiggle when I'm exercising!! lol Not a nice feeling

    Yep me too.
Though saying that all the skin is very loose and I don't know that it actually has anything to do with the scars that are there or if it would still be there if not.

i didnt notice it much with my first child who was delivered by c-sect, but after the 2nd (9yrs ago) it was there and has been ever since. I found that if i lost weight, it shrunk, but it became more wrinkly because the skin was so stretched during pregnancy. After my 3rd (4yrs ago) it was worse but that may have been because i never really bothered with exersizes to get rid of it.

Is it really only c-sect's that cause the overhang? What changes occur with a normal delivery tummy?

    thats good to know lol

Im pretty sure its the result of the skin being overstretched....its like blowing up a balloon then letting out the air. The balloon is never as firm.

Maz has a word for this, but I prefer 'apron'

It comes down to skin elasticity as much as anything else.
I had it before having kids because Id lost a large amount of weight and have not very elastic skin.

3 years and still have it.
Don't think it will go back to the way it was. Makes me look a little pg. I didn't have a c/s but did get lots of tummy stretch marks and that is what mine is from. I am hoping my other skin around my midriff will tighten as I lose more weight and will help a bit (I am a healthy weight but a large tummy size for my weight)
Sorry I couldn't give better news.

I don't have it. I don't really know what you mean?? My tummy isn't flat, never was anyway, but there's no hanging going on, lol.

I have a small pouchy bit but it doesn't really hang anymore and I have had 2 c/s. It did take a while to go though.

Ok, I just saw another thread (the one with the c/s scar pics) and Leash you were saying your scar is where your bikini/hipster undies would sit. So maybe that's why? If mine was there I can imagine I would have it too bc there's a crease in my skin there anyway, you know? But mine is a lot below my undie line so there's nothing to 'hang' iykwim?? If I end up having to have another c/s next time I'll be telling them 'make sure you cut down low where the other one is so there's no hanging!!' lol.

I think there is a bit of a difference with c-sections that makes the hang worse and possibly harder to get rid of - because you have a line of scar tissue there it is like a straight more rigid bit for any loose skin to hang over. Is like material if you had a piece of material which had some of that bias edging stuff sewn across the middle then it would effect the way the fabric folds - I reckon is the same with skin. If your scar is low enough probably can avoid it, all depends on where the scar is and where your fat and excess skin is. I have a definite hang/fold whatever even though I am thinner than before I was pregnant - I don't think will ever go away :-(.

yep and I have it tripled (3 c/s) *sigh* I hate it and will eventually get a tummy tuck as I don't think any amount of exercise will get rid of it.. I had my first c/s in 03 and my last in 07..

I think if you google C/s overhang you will come across a site that has other womens pictures.. I actually felt better looking at them as I didn't feel so alone and ugly lol
