I've had an emerg c/s with DD then an elective c/s with DS - and the best thing was being able to leave the theatre with my baby in my arms. I was tired and groggy, but I had my boy with me and I only let him go when DH wanted a cuddle . DD was whisked away rapidly to NICU so I had to be wheeled in to visit her. DS was rooming in with me straight away.

On the flipside, due to the emergency c/s and having DD in NICU I wasn't concerned about myself or my limitations due to the c/s - I HAD to go to and see DD so I was totally pre-occupied with DD. Where as having the elective I was really pre-occupied with my lack of ability to move around etc....

Both times around I threw up after having 'the needle' but once that was out I was fine (and in the case of DD's birth - once she was out I was fine due to pre eclampsia).
