I can't compare emergency to elective cos I've only had an elective (and a VB first time around). I was a bit nervous but the alternative (having another VB and being in pain for 18 months afterwards like I was the first time around) really wasn't appealing.
I think seeing the theatre for the first time blew me away and I wanted them to wheel me back out! Before the day, I'd focused on my Caesarean music and took an iPod in with me and INSISTED on them finding a player in theatre. That caused some amusement and was a good diversion. The obs, theatre assistants and me basically sang along throughout the caesar or rated all of my music choices. The spinal was a bit nerve wracking and I took a dislike to the anaesthetist because he kept saying, "now this will sting, now this will blah blah blah," so I purposely tried to outdo him by not flinching. We made up and were the best of mates by the end of the surgery and he held my hand after DD was born and DP had disappeared with her
I could not have been happier with my caesar TBH. DD was with me in recovery and I recovered much better and much quicker from my caesar than from my VB.
