If he has gone through NEIS it means he is receiving Newstart, so you won't be entitled to much, but it should be more than$ 0. I'm assuming he declares his income as part of it, but don't forget he may be getting $50 an hour, but he may only be working a couple of hours a week whilst he gets it off the ground.
