How soon after O does your temp rise?

Just wondering if there is a general pattern to when to expect the temp rise after O.

My CM this cycle indicated I O'd about 3 days before the temp rise. My health care professional says that this is perfectly fine and exactly what she expects to see.

I have put some data in FF and it says my O happened the day before the temp rise, ie 2 days later, but FF is not sure as this does not match my CM.

When do you get your temp rise after O?

    Thanks for your help.

Well, I always thought usually about 1 - 2 days after O, but 3 wouldn't be impossible either I guess. I reckon you should try OPKs, maybe even just for next cycle, to see where the LH surge is... I've heard some peoples CM can dry up a 1-2days before O, which could mean you are Oing on the day before the temp rise, without EWCM. This is just what I've heard anyway... some people swear by CM, some people swear by temps, and some by OPKs. I would combine and have a look

Once you ovulate you're body starts producing progesterone which is what causes the temp rise. As far as I know your temp should go up straight away, you should notice it the next morning after ovulation.

By the time you see a temp rise you've already ovulated. Often you will get a slight dip and then a fairly steep rise, this in most cases will indicate when O took place - usually the day of the dip with the temp rise coming the day after.

    Thanks for your response ladies.

I have done some research and here are mine findings:

O is generally considered to occur at the beginning of the temp rise, usually the lowest reading on the graph because temp drops just before O by about 0.12 to 0.3 C. The temp drop is not always seen because it is a 12 hour drop whereas the temp is taken over 24 hours.

Because the temp drop is not always seen, the beginning of the rise is taken as being the most likely day of O but more commonly it occurs before this.

It is reasonably common to O up to 3 days before the rise and also possible to O up to five days before the rise. Even Oing up to 2 days after the rise is possible too!!! O causes the basal temp to rise up to 0.5C.

I think FF is being conservative in putting O day 2 days later being the day after the rise. I am not a freak by getting a temp rise 3 days after 0 day - IT IS COMMON!!!

Now just trying to see how long I can hold out before testing.
