I've satrted using soapnuts a couple of weeks ago. Am still in the evaluation stage. I couldn't handle the smell of my laundry detergent anymore, so the soapnuts were a welcome change... am using a couple of drops of rose geranium oil on the bag to scent my washing.
i hate the way the soapnuts smell before oyu put them in the wash. kinda vinegary. but the laundry smells ok. and seems pretty clean...
my mum is also trialling them in germany atm. she said they're great for normal lods, but really soiled/stained stuff doesn't work. her normal detergent does, though. so she does everyday stuff in them, but jackets and things that tend to get dirty and you don't wash so often, she uses normal detergent on.
Oh and she also washes the gowns, etc. for my dad's surgical practice. she doesn't use soapnuts on those for hygienic reasons. she tried one load though and blodd stains didn't come out.
i hope your dh will get his tax sorted. i have my fingers crossed!
lol at him not pointing out panda eyes. you know what, he probably doesn't even notice. it's amazing what my dh can ignore...

Nelle - toddle legwarmerz at weewuns - LOOK AT GIRAFFE ONES!
for anyone else, if you like bees or ladybirds, something there for you too.
Nelle - ai2's and pockets (with double layer inserts) do seem the way to go for quick drying, what is what everyone travelling seems to be after - oh and trifolds and covers for the younger bubs. Higher number of absorbent items e.g trifolds, than the ai2 shells, pocket shells, covers.
Plus flushable liners. great threads on Nappycino about this topic. oh and using night nappies on long airflights. (so less changes needed during flight). And carrying MCN as hand luggage due to lost luggage and luggage delays. and the elastic double twisty travel clothes lines that fold up to nothing. you can hang those up in a room or across a bathroom.
all depends how you're travelling. access to laundry etc. time of year, climate. i read of people stomping on the mcn while they take a shower, handwashing etc - when staying in places where you are charged per laundry item. i'm not positive i could be THAT dedicated (without my LS around). i can imagine handwashing wee nappies, that's about my limit i think.
me, i donnae think i coudl travel without my Little Squirt! that thing spoils me! but now we have Formed Poos at least some of the time, i'm mightily impressed with flushable liners. now that i've worked out which brands are SOFT. yeh.
i love seeing my girl toddle arond in just a nappy, i'm kind of savouring it, this time next year, she may well be out of nappies. i will miss her mcn butt. Note to self: need new obsession.
Sasa - our dh's both went to the same shop for Rose Coloured Glasses obviously.
Gigi- i am praying that you have some good news for us tonight... i been thinking about you all the time, wishing there was a way to just fix it for you
xxx
oh my headache... hoopefully spotters will cure it
Well ashley woke up in her own vomit at 230am this morning so after 1/2 hr of cleaning and soaking
and showering she came to sleep with us in bed. but then this morning after her 2nd shower (still cant get the smell out of her hair)... her breakfast went stright through her... so she is in sposies until the diarrohea stops.
Ethan has been vomitting this morning too i am in for a fun day.
HOpe everyone is well
Gigi - i hope things work out better for you *hugs*

oh PINK, what an awful day your two kiddywinks are having! two sick at once! hugs to you all.
How is Sarah today ALIOOPS? Send us your dates when you are visiting around December.
thanks for the photography offers Suse and Arimeh!
AJP - the liners we tried that were lovely and soft? (and are sticking with now!!) were
- tots bots (from nuture nappies)
- bummis (i got them from an IRL organic baby shop called The Rainbow Tree, but many online sites stock them)
Unlike the hard papery ones that we had to cut in half cos they were so big, i use these ones just as is.
Squidgee - if you like giraffe minky mcn, i have seen them made up as
Greenkids pockets OSFA (aplix)
and Cushies Tushies AIO OSFA (front snaps).
I bet Nelle could tell you more!
Do blueberries do giraffe covers, pockets, aio's? they do OTHER animal prints. unsure.
whoever asked about COWPRINT - i think Maz and Kazbah know about cowprint nappies. the only one that sticks in my mind is the Happy Heiny pockets - two type, the COTTON PUL print and the POLY PUL print. (both of cowprint) - on sale at theweewuns last time i checked.
and is it Greenkids who make a COWPRINT nappy wetbag?
and Mazalicious makes cowprint minky breastpads.
either huggalugs or babylegs make cowprint legwarmers for babies.
and if you have a toilet training child, bluberry makes cowprint minky trainers!
what have i forgotten Maz and Kazbah, please add to my incomplete list for squidgee fi you have the time.
THere are ZEBRA freaks on here too, you think of an obsession, there will be SOMEONE who will say "snap" to that. except for me and my bilbies! i loike to be different/ unyoousual / noice ha ha.
DH has not said boo all day - i'm just leaving him to it - so hard NOT to say "have you got the group cretificate/ super docs"? my tongue is in MANY pieces.
me and bilby went out at 10.30 to see lactation consultant / GP (mega wait), went to buy ABA calendar, bought cheapest petrol for years (94 cents a litre!!!!!) and got home around 2.30pm. so we left him in peace for a few hours.
Mother's Direct 24 hour sale on just for today.
wotbb: a rainbow SS she's on the last snaps of, Ooberbaby (wahmania).
