    Hi girls

I have just bought a few nappies from fb and have had my first burn In all but one elastic has gone but was told that it was "ok" plus they are all a bit greyish looking. (well 2 are orange but they are a bit off colour in areas). Just wondering if a strip wash will help with the grey and the stains? The one still in pretty good nick has a dark grey/black stain on the lining and one other has a light brownish one which I assume should sun out over time. There's 2 sherpas which aren't made anymore so are pretty old I think and are quite stiff, hopefully a good wash and scrunch later will help?

Also (sorry for the million questions) I know there are some DIY elastic replacement sites, can anyone tell me if they've used any and if they found them useful?

    ta!

mellybelly - maybe a soak in eco store pure oxygen whitener then some sun would help with the stains. i cant help with the elastic as i have never had to replace mine so far, FX. i would certainly let the mods on that site know what happened too. plus there is a negative feedback discussion tab so you can always put what happened on there too

Are the black stains where wee would hit first? Have you used panadol or something with the fake sweetener (medicine) of late? I got big BLACK stains after using Brauer's calm on DD but the results of the medicine outweighed the stains on the nappies ITMS. I did a hot wash with boosters only using just the ecostore normal washing powder and paused it for about 8 hours then sunned the inserts. came up a treat and they are so white now that they blind me in the sun !

thanks teresa - I have put on for a strip wash but might get some of that whitener you mentioned, need to get things organised before Das is here afterall! I will keep the feedback option in mind, but might just make sure I ask plenty of questions next time to make sure I get a really good idea of condition

CL - these stains are as is from buying secondhand, but will keep the fake sweetener tip in mind.

Here's hoping the strip wash and if needed soak will do the trick. They didn't cost much so I won't be too upset, but DH will prob ban me from buying second hand as he wasn't impressed with the way they looked. It's just so much cheaper to find out what might work for Das when he/she arrives!

Stoked - not quite a newborn, but I used petites on my DD when she was about 8 weeks old, I didn't have any leak-outs but found them too small on her and she was only very petite at the time (wouldn't know it now looking at her), they were the original ones when the petites were first released so I don't know if they have changed the pattern any. I personally don't like the fit on my daughter.

CL - I'll have to try that with one of my Bonnibuns inserts, it has a black patch on it, doesn't really worry me as such, but if I can get it cleaner looking it would be good.

I've managed to sell a few of DD's outgrown stash, now to resist the urge to buy more that she doesn't really need. It's kinda sad letting go of the smaller ones, especially my favs

At one stage all my nappy inserts had them Mollycat. It doesn't affect the performance though. I only had to soak them once. Even rock n green didn't budge them but the standard ecostore washing powder did. I ALWAYS sun them living in Kalgoorlie but even that wouldn't fade them really well for a while.
