Kai is a pretty big wetter too (at least, I think he is . . . don't really have any basis for comparison!!), I've been using the BBH Bamboo for a couple of months and just ordered some more. But what I wanted to say is that I have always used a PUL cover and haven't had any probs with rash. But then, he hasn't tended to get much rash anyhow. Maybe try it for one night if you have one, and see how your bub goes?
