NIXONSMUMMA - the woollies come in
- soaker (like a nappy cover but no elastic, instead knitted leg cuffs and drawstring waist)
- shorties (like shorts with a drawstring waist)
- longies (you know them already!)
If you don't want to use a separate liner at night time, i would suggest
- malden mills fleece (Windpro or 300wt) pockets (then you only have to stuff it with a bamboo)
- a night time AIO like Kester Kovers, Wrigglybumz Nightz
You might want to experiment with Hourglass shaped or Eggtimer shaped microfleece liners.
Something i have done, to get MORE layers of bamboo into the pockets, without them getting too wide with being stuffed, is to make some skinnier strip boosters. So i might sew one normal width (two layers bamboo), another 2cm less wide (and sew that to the first one, top and bottom, then another one 2cm less wide again, and sew that one to the middle one. (cos the sewing machine only goes thru 4 layers of bamboo happily). So the crotch width doesn't get too bulky.
i noticed tonight, Cuddles n Cloth make both a bamboo nappy and a fleece night nappy, both are front SNAPS.
The Sandman is double row front SNAPS too, hopefully this will outsmart your clever bub!
I like having a few types of night nappies, so if bilby is gurgling happily on the changetable, i'll do teh fitted and woolly routine, but if she's screaming blue murder, i'll put the night AIO on her. I reckon the night time MCN is the hardest bit, once you get that sorted, the rest is gravy!!!
I would suggest going the TRIM option for night time stuffing, microfibre will not last the distance, instead of taking up space in the pocket and making the nappy bulky with the microfibre, i'd be using that space to put more bamboo in. (the microfibre is good for day nappies).
Have you thought about accessing the ozclothnappies snap database? it's a list of people who have a snap press and are willing to let others use it, or do some snapping for them. If you love the bits for bots pocket, but His Nibs is driving you bats by undoing the aplix, well, you could have some snaps put on it maybe, to solve that dilemna.
Dunno if you want night time covers, or just want woollen soakers.
but there are snap shut Windpro covers available e.g Staccinator, Sugarpeas.
for buying a woollen soaker, you want minimum 8 ply 100% merino wool, 10 or 12 ply is great too.
the plainer the better, i have no idea why, but apparently the ones with embroidery, are less waterproof - i don't understand why, but a WAHM told me that. I got a lovely basic nighttime soaker from Possum's Pouches, $25, in a plain colour. There are SO many places that sell them, Peep-o has some on special right now too.
if you want help about the lanolising, just give a hoy, it's not hard.
