I have posted this in another thread about PCOS but thought it might be of use to someone here also... I had two Implanon's first inserted in August 2002 and then replaced in August 2005, the second one was removed in August 2008. I have not as yet been visited by AF and went to see the Gynae early October and he feels the Implanon has resulted in my ovaries being put to sleep. So I might be starting Metformin next week but it depends on the outcomes of some further tests that the Gynae has done as he is not 100% sure if I definitely have PCOS or just cysts on the ovaries.
I loved my Implanon whilst it was in but I wish I had done some more research about life after Implanon as I honestly thought it would be out and then the next month or so I would be pg and now feel like I have a long TTC journey ahead of me that I have brought on with my choice of Implanon. Thank you for reading my vent/encounter with Implanon
Hi hun, I too had two implanons in for a total of 5.5years. It took a few months for everything to return to 'normal'. My implanon was removed end of Feb 2007 and I was pregnant within 6months. I too have had cysts on my ovaries but I don't believe I have PCOS. Everyone is different though.
Good luck with your journey and I hope it is a short one
I had my Implanon in for 5 years. One in for 4 years and another put straight in after that until June this year. My periods were non existant for the first implanon but when I had to replace it and got the second one put in I suddenly remembered why I hated being a female so much. I got my AF all over the shop. I was so irregular and so moody. I couldn't work it out.
Since getting it out and TTC the doctor advised me that it only takes 24hrs to 4 days to get your body back in order. THIS actually freaked me out because I didn't think it would happen so soon. But low and behold I got my AF the exact same day I had the implanon removed and my periods have been regular ever since.
Im actually 12DPO and awaiting to take my HPT. Cant wait to see the result.
I hope this info helped.
Just thought I would update and let you know my TTC journey wasn't as long as I thought it would be - we found out we were pg on the second cycle after Implanon - yeah whoo hoo
