Hi Molli
it can often take many months to conceive, but if you are worried about a past infection then please visit your GP and ask for testing. Did you visit your GP when you had blood in your urine and what was the outcome then?
4 months have gone passed and I have not got pregnant. All of my family, including grandparents, aunties and mother conceived within the 1st or 2nd month!! My mum conceived within a month when she was 30, and again at 33. I am only 25 and I am felling something is wrong now as 4 months have passed.
When I was 19 I was with a guy that was impotent due to drugs I suspect. One day he went and got some shampoo from the bathroom and put a lot of it inside me to act as lubricant so he could force his limp penis in. And the next day I noticed really bad internal and external swelling and I started getting my period, but the blood had nowhere to come out due to the swelling, and took a while to come out, and the swelling went away gradually. But about a week later I got blood in my urine and it hurt really badly when I did a wee. I was wondering if this could have caused an infection inside and maybe damaged the tubes or the womb??? Does anyone know?? Sorry if this is TMI... If I go to the doctor they will not do anything as have not been ttc for over a year.

I know it can take many months, it's just that everyone in my family conceived so quickly, including my mum and she was in her 30's!
i am only 25 so I kind of thought it would happen quickly but oh well.
I didn't visit the gp when I had blood in my urine as I was overseas and didn't get my act together. But it went away after a couple of days and I thought all was fine.
in that case you should probably visit your GP now and just let them know what happened. I'm sure they will be sympathetic and will talk you through any possible repercussions if there was a past infection.
Absolutely worth a visit to the Dr, it might ease your mind a little. Like Trav said, it can take couples a while to conceive and for the average couple it is about 6 months. I feel your frustaration though, Im another that comes from a family who get pregnant by looking at their husband, we took 5 years and we were 21!
Good luck, hope this is your month!

Everyone in my family gets pg first go but it took 10months of dedicated ROTC with ds and 6 months for this one I'm perfectly healthy and 24 and dh is 28 and has high and very healthy spermcount so it can take a while even if everyone else is quick
I recon you should chat with the dr to make sure no damage has been done
Definately go to the Dr regarding that past incident.
A 'healthy' couple can take 6-12 mths to conceive. There was no issue on my side of the family but it took us 13 months to conceive our DD and this baby is an IVF baby after 3.5 years of trying. My sister is older than me by 18 mths and is pg with her first, it took 8 mths and she is 37 yo. Everybody is different. Have you thought about charting your cycles to pinpoint ovulation so you know when to DTD? This was what made the difference for my sister. GL
You could consider charting for a few cycles just to confirm that you are O'ing. I agree that it sounds like there's no worries about your timing. When I went to my GP to ask for a referral to my FS she was interested in seeing my charts to confirm that I was actually O'ing every cycle. My FS, on the other hand, couldn't be less interested...
You might also want to keep in mind that, in some cases, every day is too often for a man to build good sperm and every other day is a better option. I'm not saying that's the necessarily case for your partner; just be aware that it's true for some men. More is not always better.
Wow everyday sounds like hard work
My partner is very fertile, he got two other women pregnant really quickly, and apparently his last gf was always going to the abortion clinic. which is kind of a bit sickening, and makes me feel really bad. I don't think it's a problem for him to have sex every day, it's usually not unless a man has a poor sperm count.
I don't think i really want to chart my cycles at this stage, as I am already very busy and get stressed quite easily. i think i will give it a few months, and then go and see the doctor if nothing has happened. i am still very worried the infection I got could have damaged my fertility somehow but maybe im being paranoid.
Any luck yet?
