TTC#2 How soon did you start?

    Hi Guys,

Just curious as to how early after #1 did you start TTC#2? DS is 4 months old and DH wants to start TTC again next month. the closeness of the two would be nice, but it scares me a bit and also I'm really enjoying DS and the fact that it's just me and him and I can give him so much attention. I'd like to give it another few months before we start trying again. DS was also born by c/s.

Would love to hear your stories and advice.

Hmmm, i reckon that when the time is right you just KNOW.

We started TTC when DS turned one, but I have PCOS and use clomid to O. It took 6 months. The boys are 2yrs 5mths apart. I would've loved a smaller age gap originally (my sister and i are 17 months apart and have always been BF), BUT the age gap the boys have is fab. Evan was just out of nappies, and is a bit more independent, sleeps well, and can do a few things for himself (get himself a drink and snacks if i'm busy with Zac). And he is also at a stage where he can understand he needs to share my attention a bit.

According to the "experts" () the 'ideal' age gap is 2.5yrs so they both get enough mummy attention. And 4yrs + is too big. But IMO, whatever you have is the perfect.

Are you happy to BF through pregnancy and tandem feed? I guess that would be a big consideration for me. And I am TTC now (kind of!) while BFing and if i fell pg soon i would def end up tandem feeding.

For me and TTC #2 was pretty much once #1 was born. My 2 DD's are less then 11 months apart!

As LG said...you just seem to know when the time is right and feel comfortable. Weigh up the pros and cons....think of future plans, can you afford to have kids close in age, will having them close be hard to look after, time with each child etc.

The gap between #2 and #3 for me is around 14/15 months...so again....nice and close

we waited until DD was 18 months, i wasnt ready, i was also still doing one feed a day and wanted to finish up feeding first and not have to force DD to stop because i was pregnant and to be honest was enjoying DD too much to have another one any earlier!! you WILL know when the time is right!!

I will be waiting until I'm in my last year of uni to TTC #2 (2011/12). I would have loved to have all my children close in age but, at least with the 1st and 2nd that's not going to happen as #1 caught us unawares! (Couldn't be happier though!). We're just not ready, financially and all that, to have more so soon But like you said, it's more time we get to spend with our first's and I say enjoy it while you can!
