oh wow! i have to join in on this one! i am so in love with my TMX!! had it now for 2 months and think its just awesome! have already made so much in it. tea last night i made the red thai chicken curry. made my own red chilli paste before hand. it was absolutely delicious!! not at all hot like i was thinking.
made the choc hazlenut spread the other week. that was delicious. only i used dark compound chocolate. thinking next time to just use a block of cadbury milk chocolate and see how i go. a friend actually commented that the spread tasted much better then nutella!!!
Omg omg omg!!!

Mmm custard![]()
It looks so preeeetty! Welcome to my house Sir Mixalot, I think we're gonna be great friends![]()
Another promotion this month, if you order at the demo you're hosting, you get two thermo servers - a 2litre & a 1litre one.
My thermomix is coming today! Any minute now actually!!! So excited.
If you do a demo you should get the other server maybe? I have until the end of august to host a demo and get the 2 server deal.
I made shortbread last night (was excited to use the rice flour cos I haven't used it since my mum was here cos she's gluten free) and it turned out semi ok, the flavour is good, but I think I overcooked it and stuffed up putting it in the pan cos it was super thin on the edges and thick in the middle, so some of it got a little toooo cooked.
I was going to use it tonight for dinner (convert one of my lentil recipes) however, we went to the docs with both the older girls so we grabbed maccas on the way home. Last time ever though - I promise!!!!
I'm in love!
Today i made porridge, hot choc, mushroom soup, pasta with beans, bolognaise sauce & the veggie stock paste. Yah!!! Its fabulous!!!
Wow. That's great. How did they all go? I havent tried bolognase sauce. We tried making chilli con carne and ended up pureeing the mince so havent been brave enough to try again yet.
I've learnt to check the forumthermomix when making things from the EDC just to learn from others' notes. Though I dont do it all the time. I also have the gluten free and Indian cookbooks. Also there's an iphone app called Robogourmet that as TMx recipes.
Btw - the mashed potato is to die for. Not often you ever say that![]()
Ok that's it.. I'm joining this thread. Hubby rings me today and says.. "how would you feel if I bought a Harley today?"
I say.."if you get a Harley I get a Thermomix.. Thems the rules."
Haha! I'm nearly there! I'll have my thermomix in no time... Watch this space!
Haha stoked!! That's the way to go.
Ok this weekend I'm making pea and ham soup, the veggie stock, and apricot chicken risotto style.
That's all that's planned anyway... Lol
I'm a bit put out. We have so many meals frozen I dont need to cook anything. Though I do want to make a vegie and lentil soup, just because.
This from someone who's never enjoyed cooking.
Ha! Love it!
Mrs NM - tell me what the pea & ham soup is like. Snap on the apricot chicken, that's what we're having tonight.
Tashy - I don't know whether I like cooking or not - I don't think I'm that good at it, plus I think I got really sick of dealing with our restrictions. I feel like a born again cook now tho lol.
Ok thought I should provide the verdict.
- Mushroom soup - nice but too lemony. add less lemon next time. Beautiful texture & lovely with a bit of lite cream added on serving. I didn't add the slices of mushroom & I don't miss them. I also used some swiss browns & some celery instead of the onion.
- Bean pasta - nice but very runny at first. 30 mins in the thermoserver helps I reckon
- Bolognaise sauce - pleasant. Bit oily. Both pasta sauce recipes wanted 50g oil. I only put 25g in the bean pasta. I rekcon I'd reduce it in the bolognaise too, plus of course again, no onion, so it's not like I had a big volume to saute.
- Vegie stock - seems alright. V easy to make!
- Hot choc!! - made it up. Turbo 50g dark chocolate per person (I didn't do it quite enough - apparently it's better to turbo than 8-9. then you can shake down & any lumps & try again (read that on some TMXers FB page). Then add milk & make as per the hot choc in the EDC book. I found the lumps of choc still melted fine. And turbo at the end to froth. I coulda frothed more. I've also had it with Lindt dark chocolate... omg heaven in a cup!! I think the fat content was better in the lindt... lovely creamy hot choc!
- Porridge (for 1) - I pulverised it too much. Still very nice texture once cooked. I need to work out how to get it right for just me... all recipes are for bigger quantities.
Ok that's my run-down! OH and my oven is still broken. But do I care? nope!![]()
OMG! I am loving my thermo!
We made lemon custard when the consultant delivered it Friday evening. Then I made sundried tomato dip and DH made raspberry ice cream. Today we have made mandarinade, porridge and marmalade (using the leftover bits from the mandarinade). On the agenda this afternoon is vegie stock, and a tuna pasta dish for tea.
Ok I've made the vegie stock and the pea and ham soup.
Considering making chocolate custard for the kids, but with the current behaviour coming out of the 4.5 year old, he's not getting ANYTHING.
So not making anything tonight - I suppose I could make the pizza dough for pizza cos its supposed to be pizza night but DH forgot the pita bread at the shops.
ETA - made the chocolate custard - YUMMO!!!!! Next up is the pizza bianco or whatever its called for us for dinner, and the kids can have something else on their pizza. This is cool.
ETA2 - The chocolate custard is about 150 calories per serve if you divide it by 5 people. So not tooooo naughty
Oh, and the blades are really sharp. Just sayin....
Mrs NM - did you make the apricot chicken? My DH made it, but apparently got very worried about it not getting to "heat" quick enough (i.e. he'd pressed 100 degrees but it wasn't there yet lol) so he stopped it! Fool man lol. I told him that i just followed the instructions & everything turned out fine. Anyway, his rice was crunchy. Great flavour otherwise tho!
I also made the hommus (bit too lemony - I think my lemons are very strong!) and the dukkha (substituted peanuts for the almond/hazelnut due to DS)... that was kinda meh.
Plus I'm on a mission to master the art of blueberry porridge for 1. Still no real success, but tomorrow is another day!
