My mojo had hit a brick wall. I just couldn't find that oomph that I needed again. I had decided to stop trying to lose weight and focus on other things which I wanted to do, like spring cleaning, gardening and doing different stuff with the kids, stuff like that. Though I realise now that that all goes hand in hand. I need to feel good to do that stuff, and to feel good I need to eat healthily and exercise. I have trouble with motivation because DS2 still wakes frequently at night, about 2(ish) hourly to feed every night. I don't get more than 2 hours sleep at a time. My other two kids usually wake once or twice a night too. So most days I wake up tired, I'm tired all day. Which of course affects my motivation. But I just have to do it. I am always tired, but eating well and exercise do help me feel better. I just have to remind myself of that when I feel horrid.

3LM - the whole sleep deprivation thing sucks. Still suffer it here to some extent, but not to the level that you would be at the moment

Will classify this week for me as a write off. There has been my birthday, my dad has been visiting etc. Trying to do the right thing, but sucking at it. Just not in my groove yet, so not really set-up to handle hurdles like this. Oh well, I did say my first month was more of a testing month to see what will and won't work for me. I do have to deal with hurdles, as they will not stop and there is a the major Christmas one coming up! Good motivation to lose weight, but also really scary when it comes to dealing with all the food and alcohol.

Just feeling crappy really. Feeling bloated, like I am bigger than ever. So damn tired (why won't my 3yo sleep?). So desperate for me time, the school holidays have killed me and finishing off with my dad here, as much as I am glad to see him, the timing just sucks. I feel like I can't breathe, which is just not great for me eating well and also for getting any exercise done. Please do not say go for a walk. Going for a walk by myself is just not possible right now and going with others is so bad, I would rather stick pins in my eyes than deal with that stress.

Astrid you poor thing. Can you take 5 mins - even if it is sitting on the loo to do some breathing/mindfulness if you know how to? Just give yourself some time out for YOU. I will regularly take much longer on the loo (supposedly ) than I need to and take in my HOme Beautiful mag with me!! Holidays end tomorrow hun and don't beat yourself up too much.

3LM - I have been there with sleep dep = not for a long time but I can tell you know there was no chance I was exercising or eating all that well. I just simply attempting to keep my head above water without going nuts so be easy on yourself hun xoxox
SB - You go girl!! Woooo well done sweets!!

I know motivation is down a bit - me included but Ihave decided to stop beating myself up, I will NOT feel guilty if I eat BBQ shapes, I won't kick myself for not doing exercise because i nearly broke my foot. I will never look like a supermodel so have stopped looking at pics on pinterest for motivation, but what I WILL do is never give up. It isn't a diet. It isn't a short term goal - it is a long term change in my view on food and exercise and one thing I have found over the last 2 mths is that I actively look for ways to exercise every day - it is a habit now and if I miss it I really miss it. I love that I have my JM dvds to do at home on days like today when the weather is crap. I know that eating wise I am at high risk of getting diabetes with my dad being type 2 and also because I carry my weigh around my middle. I have seen my sister lost 20 kgs recently through low carb -and exercising 5 days a week. She has battled weight for YEARS. I mean nearly 20 years and finally has lost it though a combination of both so I know it works. I know if I eat less carbs I feel better. I KNOW all of this intellectually but if I fall short I refuels to beat myself up because on top of focusing on all of that I have a nearly 3 year old who repeatedly says NO to everything in a day (tiring much) I have a 4 year old bright spark who needs to me to focused on her more than I am on me ITMS so if I fall short, have crappy days and don't meet my goals I simply don't give up and go again the next minute. Does that make sense?? It is working for me - I know it may not for everyone else but for me it helps to know that I am not perfect, I KNOW what I need to do but if I don't do it then that is actually ok but I have to keep going - for my kids sake. I also know that even with falling off the wagon but exercising I feel strong, I feel more toned, I can do PUSH UPS! OMG that I couldn't do before, and my shoulders look HOT if I do say so myself - so seeing those changes is enough to keep going.

Ok off my soapbox now - huge hugs to all, I am also considering cutting sugar for a month using Sarah Wilsons new book. I think I am addicted to it and like lots of people it doesn't make me a very nice person!! Am going to buy the ebook today!

Not sure my last post made any sense! Was basically saying that we as mums constantly feel guilt over something in parenting, as wives/partners/ SAHM's or working mamas, mamas in general and I think we should go easy on ourselves with dieting and weightloss as well. Not to say that it should be an excuse to overindulge or not exercise but if we fall short on our goals at times, then just shrug it off and keep going rather than feeling like failures. Just my take!

    Hi ladies!

Well, I am going ok. Not great, not a s well as I need to be or want to be, but better than I was! I am trying which is the most important bit No real exercise as yet, though I have been getting busy in the garden and I have sore muscles from it, so I am doing something good! I will go for a walk today though cause DH is home and I will have the opportunity to.
I am going to write out my goals and rewards and stuff now...this might take some time!

    Wow, quiet in here....

I'm still not going great guns, but doing ok. I went on a big walk this morning, pushing DS2 in his pram. it was a glorious morning and makes me wish I could start the day like that every day. But I can't with DH working and I can't take the 3 kids walking that kind of distance (a 4km walking track I go around) since I don't have a double pram anymore. Gosh that would exhaust me...pushing a double pram with 30-odd-kg of preschoolers in it and DS2 in the ergo...LOL! But we don't have one so it is irrelevant!
Eating....not so great. Still having way too much sugar. I am terribly addicted to it, and caffiene(sp) which at the moment are going hand in hand because I have 2 srtong coffees with a tsp of sugar in them each day to try to keep me going since I am having so little decent sleep. But I am going to try to forgive myself that. I will lessen the sugar in it to half, then maybe when I am sleeping more, I can cut it out totally (the coffee) because I associate coffee with sweet, plus coffee just isn't so great for me anyway!
But I am also not eating really well either. I am getting better each day though, and not eating actual junk, just not eating the better choices I *should* make most of the time, iygwim. Not enough fruit, but fruit out here is really expensive, or if it's not, then it's pretty crap quality. I'm not a huge fan of just oranges and apples, which are the only things which aren't costing an arm and leg right now, well, most of them, eg red delicious apples are $2.99kg, but the feel floury and soft. Pink lady's (which I love!) are $6 a kg. Bananas are $12 a kg. Strawberries, $5 a small punnet. You get the gist! Veggies are a bit more reasonable thankfully, plus we eat a fair bit of frozen veg mixed into rice and pasta dishes and stuff like that.
I tried on a pair of shorts this morning, which I brought when I was in mid pg with DD, (who is now 4 1/2) and they still fitted me when pg with DS1as well. Today, I couldn't get them over my hips. I am so ashamed...so sad. That I have let myself get so effing fat. I am fatter now than when I was pg with DD. Almost as heavy as when I was the last time I weighed when pg with DS2 (7kg off it). Ugh. No wonder I feel so horrid. I just can't find my mojo properly to do it....I wonder why? I really want to lose weight. I need to do it. I dunno

I haven't been in here for ages... But then again, i've also fallen off the wagon big time. I haven't checked, but I wouldn't be surprised if I was back to where I started . Exercise isn't happening, eating heaps of junk... So annoyed at myself.

Only been quiet due to cruddy Internet, have tried to post but lose them.

Crashed big time today. Not a weightloss thing, but a whole life thing. My weight is going and I am sure I have not been that bad with food, had a birthday lunch, but that should not have mucked things up so much. Due to the Internet hassles, I have also struggled to get onto CK to track things.

3LM - wow fruit for you is expensive. Getting strawberries at the moment for $6 for 3 punnets.

I hope you can refocus Astrid, unfortunately I know too well how it feels to fall off the wagon. Everything within your life affects how you eat and exercise.
And yep, fresh produce is ridiculously expensive out here in the sticks. And it's often not nice quality, and definately not much organic stuff. I guess it's a drawback of living in the outback!

Ok. I relent. I give in. Give up. I can't do this. I suck. It has been months since I started and I have gotten nowhere. I can't so it to myself anymore so I am going to stop trying. I am torturing myself over something that clearly can't work for me right now.
Good luck to you all. Thank you to everyone who has been patient and given advice. I truely do appreciate it.

3LM you do not suck, you can relent and give yourself a break hun because as I posted earlier, we all have so much more going on that the pressure we place on ourselves is huge at times hun. I bet you will find even if you do 'give up" that yo will still try to get some exercise in, you will try to have a healthy dinner at times, you will make choices for healthy snacks - maybe not every day at every meal but just replacing 1 or 2 is making a different health wise and modelling to your kids. I have been cracking away at this last 5 kgs for months and months and months and although I am not tracking now and just generally trying to make some good decisions - give the kids good food, and show them that exercise is a part of every day, that is enough for me right now even if I am not budging the last 5 kgs.

I failed miserably at no sugar not sure who I was kidding but I lasted 3 days before I was feeling SO dizzy and sick and just horrible, and unfortunately for me, dizzy = anxiety so of course that amped up while I was feeling like that - then I decided, why on earth am I doing this? Yes I truly feel that sugar is terrible for us but I actually don't have HUGE amounts of it either but if I feel like a little glass of fruit juice with lunch I am going to have it occasionally.

Anyway off my soapbox now and just wanted to give you a huge hug hun because i can feel your disappointment and how upset you are through the screen xoxoxoxo

3LM - take a break if you need to, this weight loss caper can be so hard

Tanstar - years ago I cut out sugar. I was terrible for 3 days, then woke up one morning and felt wonderful. Not sure I could go through it again, as it was pre children, I think they would push me too much now

Feeling better here. Not sure what my "crash" was about, but my muscles are feeling quite weak. Wonder if I have been hit with a virus? Just remembered I was switched my super food supplement over from Swisse to In-liven. Maybe my body is adjusting to the switch. A friend as lent me some Zumba DVDs, will be interesting to see how I go, could be a laugh

My internet is good for now, but it will probably be crap for the rest of the week, so no CK food tracking, will have to do something on paper. Have done so in the past with the TWD, so will drag out my old checklist and follow it. Have kind of been anyway, as I know that white carbs are not the best for me and need to keep them in control. So high fibre for breakfast, then choose whether my lunch or dinner gets the carb component.

Well.......1.1kg lost since last Wednesday Very happy. Started tracking on CK again as of Sunday. Have not been perfect, but pretty good. Damn DH bringing me a glass of wine

Exercising is still my issue. Go the Wii Fit out today, along with Just Dance and DD2 kept on hassling me. She screamed whenever I put on a song that she did not like (what is not to like about "Wake me up before you Go Go"? So ended up stopping. Think today my exercise will be cleaning out the car and maybe giving it a wash of we have time.

Big car trip this weekend (9hrs oneway). Going to make food difficult, I tend to eat when it comes to my turn to drive, probably out of boredom. For the way up I will make sandwiches and cut fruit. The trip back will be hard, as we will be reliant on Fastfood. Pretty sure one of the stops on the way has a few more choices than just Maccas (I hope)

Welcome back beckoes! How have you been going?

Well done ont he loss astrid. thats a great loss in a week!!! hope the big drive goes ok. you could always get some nuts or other healthyish snacks to nibble while your driving back that you can just chuck in car before you leave and not worry about going off. then on the way back you wont just have to rely on the truck stop food.

Well, i havent weighed in, just did my measurments. so i guess il have to do them again in a few days. i feel better that im not eating a magnum every night. DH would bring one home for on his way back from work as he gets them for free from work. and ive been so good not eating chocolate and crap when ever im near a shop. having salads for lunch and smaller portions for dinner and just having loads of veggies. its going ok. so i muct have lost SOMETHING!

Oh no - a magnum a night! I would find that hard to give up. There is something about free food that is hard to say no to.

I handled a major challenge today, DD2 wanted pancakes. So made them for her and the rest for her sister after school. I then took the leftover batter (not enough to make a decent pancake), grated through half a zucchini, a whole carrot and a pinch or 2 of parmesan. Made two nice veggie fritters for lunch Was also good managed to not eat her uneaten pancake, I wrapped it up and put it in the fridge for her for later. Normally I would just scoff it along with whatever else I was eating.
