Lilias - its a really good step to break the goal down into 5kg lots. After having my DS (my 2nd pg) I lost 36kgs - not even setting a real goal in the beginning. My goal was to 'look good' . I didn't even have a number of kilo's I wanted to lose. I would have stopped after losing 20kgs if I had thought I looked good, but 36kgs was the lucky number in the end. So 5kgs at a time is a good goal hun!
Subbing to this thread I need a kick up the backside to lose these last few kilos. I am maintaining a 20kg loss (lost over 6 months and maintained for another 6 months) but need to lose another 5kg to get to my goal weight. Don't have much time now but just wanted to say hi and I will be back for personals tomorrow
Leesa, I think it will be easier for me to concerntrate on losing weight if I'm not so overwhelmed by the numbers. 30kg is just so much to me, and seems like a superhuman fewat to lose that much weight, but 5kg, I can and have lost before so it's doable, kwim?
Well off to a good start today, and it helps that it's a cold morning out here, I'm having some porridge with a little honey and a sugarless coffee. Not tasting so great right now, but I will get used to it. I also plan on mowing the lawns (our yard is huge!) for exercise today. It needs doing and DH is on an arvo shift for work, so I likely won't get to go for a walk, cause I have errands to do this morning, then the kids have naps...yada yada! So mowing it is, and maybe a little wii-ing!
Krystals - that sounds so easy peasy. Will make a note of that so when we are down to not enough veggies to do anything healthy with, which is normally the night before our f&v delivery, I can grate up the odd bods and cook 'em up!!!
CK definitely helped me lose weight in the past - I can only speak positively of it (other than be wary of their forums).
I recommend it for all my pt clients to use too!
I thought of my calorie expenditure like a monetary budget. I had to pick and choose what I ate carefully so I could stretch it out over each day. So I ate lots of fruit and veggies - that can only be a good thing !
0 point weight watchers vegies include carrots, cabbage, green beans, Turnips, Zucchini, Asparagus, Lettuce, Mushrooms, Onion, Pumpkin, Cauliflower, Celery to name a few. Then there is 1 and 2 point vegies also. I use to make 0 point WW soup but I lost the recipee so now I use alot of no point vegies a tin of tomato soup, water use to cook the vegies in then add spices. Its not exactly that nice but its not bad either and its a very healthy snack.
leesa just out of interest why be wary of their forums? I've only been on parenting and horse forums but I'm curious.
lilias explained the hole point thing well. My MIL has my books so I can't remember how many points I would be on.
Well good and bad news for me. I weighed myself and I'm 87kilos. Boo but I am under the 90 I thought I'd be. Still up 17kilos from my pre preg weight. 1st goal 85, then 80 hopefully by the end of June (I'm taking your 5kilos goals Lilias on board). I'm pushing myself. Once I get into the 70's it wont be such a push.
Vixstar thats not many calories at all. So I take it the less you weigh or less your BMI is the less you need to loose weight?
Well day 1 yesterday was successful. I did eat a huge dinner (lots of pasta woops) but I was so hungry and I ate so well up until dinner. I didn't put as much meat in mine and didn't eat much sauce and mine serving had hardly any grated cheese on it so I hope by doing that it reduced some calories. Will get on CK later and see what it says about my diet yesterday and how many calories I need but first the vacuume cleaner is waiting for me.
Anyone do Zumba and if so is it worth the $99 for the DVDs from the post office/target?
Long term PCOS sufferer so my weight has always been up and down... I am currently seeing a fantastic nutritionist keeping me positive and focused! At the moment I am on a herbal diuretic 3 times a day an iron tablet of a morning and dr vera's vitamin b morning and at lunch...
Here is my current eating plan from the nutritionist Breakfast - 1 metagenics shake it protein shake morning tea 10 almonds or half an apple lunch a tin of tuna/ salmon 95g or any protein max 100grams and unlimited low carb vegies or salad afternoon tea if I am hungry half an apple or handful of berries! Dinner is 80-100grams protein and 2 cups of low carb veg or salad Supper another protein shake
I had gotten the incorrect fluid retention tablet and have only just started taking it the last 2 days so fingers crossed this helps to drop alot of unwanted fluid.
I have been loosing cms but not weight this being the reason she thinks fluid plays a major part which was suspected with the PCOS.
Welcome Miss K. Are the protein shakes any good? Are they milky tasting? I did try shakes once upon a time but they were to milky tasting.
Ok it sounds like I was measuring wrong. Will measure first thing tomorrow before food. Of to bed now. Its super early but I'm tired and bub is a grumpy bum and atleast if I am on bed I wont eat. There is a pile of cream bickies I'll devour if I stay up much longer.
Yay, on the computer to I can type properly! hehe!
Leesa, err... yes I am a member of your fat chic slim page! Whoopsie! But I am ALWAYS reading your posts, just not posting myself. I loved the one a week or so ago, talking about how you guys can't make people do things, its up to us, and how much we want it for ourselves (or something of that nature). It actually rung true, and I *listened*. I would love love love some tough love from you. I think thats exactly what I need, my two besties are also *cough* obese.. (hate saying I'm obese! sucks!), so they'd never mention my weight - worse still they're always keen for cakes, hot chips, all the crap that got me here in the first place! Gah! So yes, tough love! Slap of reality! Bring it on!! I've been reading your blogs lately too. Bit queer, stalkerish how much Ive been thinking of you lately actually! This morning after my brekky, I sooo wasn't going to go for a walk, and I thought to myself. "Leesa didn't get where she is today by doing sweet nothing! She exercises everyday! I can do it too!!" Yes I know, I'm odd. You can take out a restraining order at anytime, haha But seriously, thanks for the motivation! I might have to look further into my HR when my fitness levels start to increase (which hopefully WILL happen!). Are you hoping to reach your 800g loss at the end of this week? You're doing fab, keep it up!
Hey Miss K and welcome to the group! I've only recently gotten back on track too. First goal is 10kg, second 15kg. Glad to hear your nutritionist is keeping you motivated! Do you find the shakes filling? I've never had one, so no idea really! I'm a WW girl. Been doing it for so many years I just subconsciously count them now. I know what i should eat, what I shouldnt (obviously don't care most times, hence the reason i'm here! ) But am feeling so ready this time around, its quite bizare. I've never felt this mentally focused. Loving it!
Livvy I have no idea on where you're suppose to measure. But it sounds like you're sourced a reputable website to get your info! I like the one where you breathe out too, ha! Did you stay good with your baking today! I can proudly say I didn't even have one bite of my baking efforts! Wasn't easy.... but I managed!
Belfie - don't be jealous of my waist. I'll be jealous of yours! And yes... I am going to join you on the Diet coke loving. It is SUCH a bad habit, but jeeze... I can't help it! I love my diet coke, even when i'm NOT dieting! But when I'm dieting.... yep... gets really bad I find myself, rather than boredom eating, I boredom drink DC. Gah! Not good! All those nasty chemicals are not good for us! I've actually bought some Saxby's diet ginger beer, which is different! Nice with some ice (as I'm finding it a bit spicy!). I have one of them, while DH has his scotch Let me know how your results go, be interesting to know if it does effect your waistline!
Mildez - Hope your walk was nice And definitely food for thought in regards to your hubby subconsciously wanting to keep you cuddly, hehe. Have you talked to him about how you need some support??
Leesa I just remember to say to enjoy your personal stylist!! What a fantastic reward!
AFM. Fish and vegetables for dinner. Not too bad. I really wanted steak, but tomorrow is my official first weigh in, so didn't want anything heavy. Next week I'm determined to NOT weigh myself daily, I'm so impatient. I get so disheartend when the scale says the same number (or heaven forbid 200g HIGHER like this morning!!! Damn it!). So figure once a week really is ample. Went shopping with mum today, she got some redrooster hot chips while she was walking.... wow, i felt like tackling her to the ground and snatching them off of her like a wild animal, hahahaha! So I had a diet coke to keep my hands and mouth busy (see belfie!! so naughty!).
Hi all. Just wondering if i can join in here. Im currently on my weight loss journey and feel like i need a bit of support. I am about 3kg of my healthy BMI but i would like to lose at least 10 maybe a bit more but my aim at the moment is 10kg. My main issue is eating i suspect. Since iv stopped bf I am still in the bf mind frame and i suspect my portion sizes are much too big and i do like to treat myself, probably a bit too much! I have started on ww points today. I find calorie counting much too difficult and this seems a bit easier so although i havent joined ww im going to do the points to work on my portion sizes and get into a better eating mindframe. I have been running/walking and doing exercise dvd's but the last couple weeks have been horrendous with illness in our house so i have fallen off the wagon big time and hope to get back on.
Im looking forward to getting to know you all and joining in your weight loss journeys. I find losing weight very difficult. I have always been the person who could eat anything and do nothing and not put on weight but since having the kids things have changed but it seems my mind hasnt changed along with it.
Being a qualified pt and gym instructor I found a lot of bad behaviours were being shared on the ck forums (but this was in late 2009, so it may have changed). And some ppl were saying some absolutely ridiculous things when it came to losing weight, plus there were a lot of posts were other ppl were just plain bullied - it used to be quite toxic.
I have had a terrible day. I feel horrible with a throat infection and migraine, I'm so tired because DS2 has decided to wake every 2 or more hours through the night the past few nights, DH is on another night shift (4th in a row) and I am just absolutely shattered. The house is a bomb site and I can't be bothered thinking about food, cooking and calories. Will have to get back on the horse tomorrow.
Lilias I'm sorry things are so hard and your not well. I hope you recover soon and your DH's run on nights are soon over. Is it 4 on 4 off? I hope he has a string of days off so he can give you a hand with the kids and around the house. Sending you get well vibes and house clean yourself vibes. If only hey?
Well I am having another successful day. I've been so busy I didn't feel hungry until now. Almost Day2 down. FX I can resist all the tasty thing I could have for desert. Its definately my weakness night times. Having lasagne for dinner so I'll be having a microscopic piece and eating a plate of vegies with it instead. Mmmm I'd love a big piece. This sucks sometimes!
JBM around 10-15kilos seems normal. Sometimes less, sometimes more. I have gained almost 30kilos and am now trying to budge some. I guess it can depend on your size to start with. Thinner women maybe encourged to gain more and vise versa. CONGRATS on your BFP.
