haha, thats ok Livvy.....i dont mind. The cereal is easy, just oats with basically whatever you like in it, i put sunflower seeds, sultanas and chopped almonds, and some linseeds but they are a bit annoying and get stuck inmy teeth, but apparently they are good for you next time i think il get some hazelnuts instead of almonds. soak it in milk and cinnamon over night, just enough to cover it. bit of fruit and yoghurt in the morning...yummo.
i have a box of special K for when i forget to put it in the friedge over night and cant be bothered to make porridge.

RE pushups.....last week i could only just manage 8...without litterally falling on my face. yesterday i got to 10!!!! yay me

Can I just say ouch. I so need a massage and a spa lol

Leesa yes I'll keep up with the push ups or maybe I should say push up. I'm feeling very sorry for myself today so don't know how the tired old muscles will hold up.

Tinsel that sucks that your calories are lower then you thought they were. Thats quiet a reduction also from BF to not. I been keen on trying Zumba also but haven't been able to afford it. My MIL said she would burn me a copy. Wish she would hurry up as its something I could do with DD5 as she would join in I'm sure.

Livvy sounds like the Flaxseed has alot of uses. Thats an ingredient in lactation cookies if I remember rightly. I've only made them a few times. I stopped making them as I can eat the lot in one sitting.

I was naughty and stepped on the scales again. My weekly weighin is actually tomorrow so I wont include today but I am down to 79.8 OMG the first time below 80 since I was about 20weeks pregnant woohoo. I'm so excited. My goal was to be below 80 by the end of July. BMI is now 25.5 so hopefully in another 2-3weeks I will be 77-78kilos and I'll be back in the healthy weight range. My calves are killing me. I did 1hr all up yesterday on the wiifit and most of that was jogging and stepping. I don't think I'll manage 1hr on the wiifit today unless I do boxing or some upperbody thing. Will try get 30mins in a go for a walk but the way I'm feeling it will be a slow putt.

Just a question. When reading the nutrition information on the package of food what exactly should you keep your eye on? I tend to look at only the sugar and fat content per serve but what is the most important? Should you look at the kj and carbs more?

    Hi Everyone!!!

I was trying to have a no computer day yesterday!! It worked a bit!! Spent some more time playing with the kids :-)

Tanstar... Good luck resisting "Wicked Wednesday" today!!!!! You can do it!!!! I do find i am a bit hungry all the time.. but after some reading up about the meds i am on and weight/gain/loss.. apparently the steroids increase appitite!! I so cant wait to be off them!!! I have heard that too about your tummy grumbling and eating your fat lol I picture it happening while my tummy grumbles!!! lol Too funny!!! Not sure at all how true that it though!!!

Beckoes.. I bet your DH didnt mind eating the bad food!! lol LAst night was great, he came home with all the stuff on my list and no extras!!!
Huge for reaching all of your goals this week!!! That is super fantastic!!!!!

Mildez.. Yay for your wii back!! DH bbought some more battieries for me, so i will be using mine today too!!! I have heard that the wii scales are not as reliable as proper scales. I would also have trouble with the minus whatever clothes your wearing, i found that none of the clothes i wore weighed 2kg!!! And when i was using it earleir this year, i went out and bought new scales and there was about 3kg difference between the wii and the proper scales. I havent used the wii here in the new house yet. do you know if using it on carpet is ok???
How was your yummy dinner?? What did you decide to make?? The stir fry??
I only managed to do 3 pushups too!!!! I kept trying all day and i did manage to get a PB of 7!!! But i had to stop there or fall down in a heap!!!
    On the losss!!!!!!

SJ... LoL!!! I think i need to check out this Shred thing!!!!

Belfie!!! What a great boost for you to be called Skinny!!!!! Oh i remember being called skinny once!! It was sooooo long ago!!!!!

Livvy... Thanks for the link :-) It was good to read, definately something to check out. Would woolies sell it??? I dont get to go to many other shops than woolies lol. Until next week that is where i will have a day in canberra (which is going to be abig test on eating good!!!) I reckon the intervals do something!! I have started doing them every morning, but i do squats and punches, and i reckon they are helping me!!!! Thanks for that!!!

Leesa... I have managed to do 10 pushups today!! Woo hoo!! I have decided not to use the ball, coz i think its cheating abit as i can do more that way, but im not using all the muscels i am without it!!!

AFM>>> I am very pleased to announce this morning the scales told me i had a loss!!!!!! 84kg!!!! So a loss of 1.1kg!!! I am a but suss though, it seems like a lot overnight... DH brought home a huge packet batteries last night (YIPPEE!!) so i might put some fresh batteries in the scales tomorrow!! But for today i am quietly celebrating!!!!

I did alot of reading last night about trying to loose weight while on the prednisone.. and apparently it is hard!! I need to watch my carbs and sugar (my fave things!!!) and increase my water intake, as alot of the weight is fluid retention.. I am not sure how that works though to drink more water.. i guess it must make me wee more so i get more out, lol not sure!! But that could also explain such a large loss, as i have pretty much doubled if not tripled my water intake in the last two days! So it might have been a bit of fluid that left the body!! Also on the forum for people on these meds, most have said once they got to only 10mg day (which i got to last week) weight loss was much easier!! YIPPEE!!!

So i am going to try my wii My fitness coach- dance workout today!! I love batteries!!! I am also loving this being active in the morning thing!! I almost dont need my coffee coz i am already all pumped!! I have been a bit hit and miss with the night time workout though, i think i need to make sure that i do enough during the day that my night time half hour is a bonus, so if i have trouble with the kids then i dont feel pressure to stay up and do it!! It seems to work better on the nights that DH isnt home!! The kids just do not settle early when he is here!! But when its just me and they are asleep early, i think its a great time to excercise!! :-) And also if DH is home i prefer to spend some time with him as we dont get to see each other much as he works so hard!!! Hmm, Does DTD count as excercise?? lol

Ok,. off to be a mummy!!!! Have a good day everyone!!!! :-)

SB Yep I had the stir fry and I am going to cook it again tonight. I did not do anymore exercise after my 1hr on the wiifit which was just before 3pm so my goal today is to try and do 30mins after tea have a shower and then go to bed. I could only manage 15mins this morning as I am just so sore. I'll try do another 15mins around 3pm (easier before DD is home from school) then again tonight.

The prednisone much make it much harder. My friend is on large doses for her kidney transplant. It works well for her rejection but it makes her gain weight very quickly. DTD would have to help you burn more calories surely unless your going to be a starfish lol. I know I'm often panting PMSL.

Well I tried the push ups again. It feels like my arms are just not strong enough to hold my weight. I did 4 but I will say only 3 as the 3rd one my feet popped off the ground so I guess that doesn't count. I think the soreness is preventing me from doing more as thats what makes me feel like I am going to fall on my face. That and the sheer weight I am carrying.

As for the balance board on the carpet my MIL has it on hers and her scales read the same as mine which are on tiles. But my digital scales read different if they are on carpet. I haven't tried it but my DD who is 35kilos read 30.4 on the carpet. My wii said I had gained 0.6kilos today when my other scales said I'd lost 1kilos since yesterday. I put it down to the fact I put I was wearing heavy clothes yesterday and only light ones today. I know my scales were right as yesterday I weighed myself just before lunch when I already ate and when I lost 1kilo overnight it was because I weighed myself as soon as I got up this morning.

BBL. Of to get poor bub immunised. I hate taking her.

    Hi guys,

    Just a quick one, sorry!

Just did day 2 of the 30 day shred - wow, was hard... have tp do push up in it, i think that i did 2 sets of 20 (maybe 18, wasnt counting properly!)... I would just like to add to those that may feel a bit down in the dumps about their numbers that when i was younger i ra cross country for stat (young teen years) and had a very high level of fitness between 18-24ish... Its only been in the last 9 years that i have let myself go - but there is muscle memory there which helps. I am still 10kg off what is meant to be a perfect weight for my height and 5 or six to hit the recommend BMI range...

I need to get a set of scales - any recommendations., i have been using my wii

I am soooo tempted to weigh myself, but really want to hold out til Sunday which is my official day.

Dance workouts for the wii sound awesome.

Oh, have to share... DD did the work out with me today and yesterday - she has been nagging me all day to do it Anyway, i dont have hand weights, s used nothing today, she didnt like it today so went and found me crayons and i had to use them as my hand weights and when Jillian walked around in the DVD demonstrating something, she would do the same - hilarious!!!!

Belfie - there are lots of jumping jacks/bouncy moves and 3 minutes of abs - but they are crunches, so i am not sure if it would be ok for you... give when you said in a PP

    have a good one ladies

Wow!! The dancing is awesome!! lol But i am quite unco!!! still moving though, even if its not perfect lol I am having trouble entering it into the CK though.. you would think it would assume that people trying to loose weight would buy a wii or the like lol!! I just went by how many calories the wii said i burned by how long i was doing it and put it under low impact aerobics!! It was fun though!!! I havent put batteries in the board yet.. i will do that tonight maybe once the kids are in bed, coz i have to adjust a few things in there. i havent used the board since i was 79kgs.. so its gonna be cranky at me!!!

MIldez.. i hear you on being sore!!! Bu ti am actually feeing better today!! But yesterday i noticed my legs hurt every tim ei had to kneel down to do something!!! But today they dont feel as bad, and that with doing some more squats today, that must be a good thing right??? As for push ups.. thats why im not using the ball, coz i think it actually takes my weight off my shoulders which makes them easier.. but im not here for easy, so i am going to do the push ups with all this horrible weight!!!! If it makes you feel better, i started on three, and while i can do more now.. im probably not going down as far as i should be to count them!!! I hope bub i sok with the needles!! We just had DD done, she seemed to cop eok, a bit of a temp, but nothing too drastic!!

SJ so cute your daughter getting you crayons to hold. Bet they were heavy lol. Maybe the shrink DVD isn't for me either. Other then been extremely weak and unfit I can attempt everything except sit up type things due to the muscle seperation. I didn't have a problem with no1 and no2 so I expect it will improve alot more just going to take time and I don't want to do anything to prevent them improving.

SJ I got my scales from ebay. They were a set of digitals that I have had for ages and are really accurate. Only paid about $30. Its a glass looking set. I'm still very happy with them. I used to check out the scales in Big W and step on them and some were so inaccurate.

I just tucked into a wholemeal toasted sandwiche with onion, tomato and ham. Was so tasty. Again I didn't use butter or salt. Trying to decide if I have vegie soup tonight (its the best one I've every cooked and I've been making it for years) or stirfry again. I probably should go for the meat.

SJ - thanks heaps for the update re the shred DVD, I think I'll avoid it for now. I might look into some more of the Wii fitness games. I like to have a little variety, and I'm avoiding the bike for now (arrrgh and I was on the home straight!). Re scales, I've got an oldish set of Tanita body scales - do fat, fluid & overall weight. I hear some of the newer ones do muscle too which could be interesting. While I thought it would be good, tbh, I've found that my fluid rarely changes, and the fat number doesn't really tell me anything I didn't know from my overall weight & the way my clothes fit! If I was buying again I reckon I'd just get basic ones & use a tape measure too lol.

Re Wii games, I have dance dance revoluation 2, and Just Dance, plus wii fit & wii fit plus. Plus the Zumba dvd I was given. Atm, i'm alternating between Dance dance & Wii Fit Plus mostly... for those cold nights (which is all the time right now!).

Ok off to stretch out & try find my HRM unit!

Quick one here - no personals because I am so tired after work today! I have been so good!!! - I sat in front of the most amazing scrummy food while I ate my ricotta and tomato on toast - GO ME!! Had a great couple day food wise and I agree with the tummy rumbling comment - I too have been imagining it eating away my fat Whatever works hey!! I know from when I did my WW that I found the first week the hardest for feeling hungry because I am so used to just eating crap whenever I feel like it. I haven't exercised though - had a bad day and worked all day yesterday and literally went to do my 30DS at 10:40 but fell into bed instead and am contemplating bed now as well. I know I should do something but it's so hard when I am so tired after work....argghhhhh and working again tomorrow so I know that won't do it tomorrow either. Looks like 3-4 days a week for me - every day was clearly an unrealistic goal!!

Ok off to bed so I am not scaring the preps with my matchstick eyes in the morning. Will BB tomorrow night for a proper post!

Well done on reisisting Tanstar!!!! I think you would be doing enough walking and running around around at work to cover some kind of excercise!! Maybe get yourself one of those little things that you can wear that counts your steps.. then you have some kind of an idea how many you do compared to a normal day at home!!

I have another loss this morning!!!! Only 600grams.. but hey!!!! I am pretty convinced it has to do with my water retention. I have been peeing like nothing else and drinking alot.. but hey, a loss is a loss!!! I am pretty much sitting on eating a total of 1500 calories and excercising 500 off. Thats what I have done the two days i have lost.. so i am sticking with that! :-)

So off to it i go!! Squats here i come!!!! :-)

    Hi everyone!

So, I am starting to develop a plan of attack. As far as exercise, I am going to start fairly gently as I am betting I am quite unfit. We have an exercise bike, so I'll be starting to use that of an evening after the kids are in bed. Not sure how long to start on it - any suggestions?
The weather is pretty awful here this time of year, so walking can't really be a regular thing yet, but DH and I are finally going to buy a new pram (that fits both kids) so I can start walking on the rare nice day we have, and when the weather starts warming up.
At some point I might buy a couple of work out DVDs too.

As for food - this is where I'm going to struggle the most. I think I need to take baby steps, gradually cutting things out. We are getting a thermomix (should arrive in the next few days!), so I am hoping that will help. One of my problems is that I simply can't be bothered cooking tea a lot of the time, so we often end up getting take out. I'm hoping having the thermomix will stop this, as cooking tea will be so quick and easy. Any advice for healthy eating is welcome!

So, that's where I'm at now. Am planning on weighing myself and taking measurements on Saturday morning - this will be my starting point.

Sterla I'd start with some small changes. Like if your a tea drinker reduce the sugar you put in. If you drink soft drink switch to diet soft drink before trying to cut it out completely. Full cream milk to skim milk etc. I'd try looking at areas where you can makes smaller changes. Maybe look at the take away you have normally and see what take out you can have with alot less fat/calories in it. Pizza is a nasty for me and I always get deep pan. I haven't had pizza since beginning this latest health kick but if I did I'd go thin crust and reduce my portions. Somethings I have recently done is cut out potato complete and if I want some have sweet potato instead which I love to. I'm surprised that somethings I have done I couldn't even tell the difference. For example I have started toasting my toasties without butter to stop them sticking. The don't stick and they taste exactly the same. I can't believe I've been adding so much to my intake for no reason at all.

Oooohhh getting a sneaky workout in then (sorry totally inappropriate of me)

Well, i just got a wii dance game today so going to do that AND the shred as i had lunch out - a few of MJ's fries and a wrap - could have been much better, but then could have been worse. on the plus side, we walked to Southland from the swimming pool, so got a bit of a walk in...

On another depressing note, i went to buy some scales and they weigh me different the wii fit says 75kg, so do my normal scales here but the ones in the shops said between 76 and 78 (all different) so i didnt buy any as i got sad

    Hi Sterla!!

Firstly YAY for you for wanting some change!!! Wanting it is half the battle, and REALLY wanting it means that you are more likely to stick to your changes!!! This is the second time i have tried the health kick, i was smaller last time i tried, and i wish i had stuck to it and I wouldnt be the 5kg heavier I am now!!! I didnt have as much support last time, but I am hoping this time I will see it all through and reach my goal weight!!!!!!

Like mildez says, small changes make so much difference!! I have noticed that just with watching my calroie intake, as i slowly started replacing all my bad food with good food, my calorie intake just kept going down and down!!!! And now if i even contemplate eating something or im not sure what it will be, i put it in Calorie King to see what it is and i judge by that if i can have it or not!! (the ice cream and milo was a big no no Bugger, it would have been yummy!!!)

I have an excercise bike, just a standard one i got given to me from a friend of a friend (the universe telling me to get my butt into gear lol)- before joining this thread i was doing MAYBE 10 minutes a day, a few days a week, if i was lucky. I dont think it was doing much, but it was kind of good to start slowly. I watched my km's per hour and tried to keep it up over 20kms an hour. I would do intervals where i would go hard for 30 seconds, then take it easy for 30 seconds for a few minutes, and that would wear me out!! Now i tend to just do a steady half hour at a time, and the first few days i was very sore in the legs!! Now I also make sure I walk around the house (we have a house that I can do circles around the lounge/family room and kitchen kind of thing) for a few laps after to help stretch my legs out, and i try to remember to stretch before i get on the bike!! Oh and i have also noticed sice being on there longer i get a sore butt, the seat isnt very comfy!!!!

I hear you on food being hard too!!! DH has been our household chef for years, and would reluctently cook me my crap food, my turn at cooking usually meant pizza or maccas!! Now we have moved further away from his job and he has a longer commute, and some nights doesnt come home at all, so I have taken over cooking!!! So its a learning thing for me, and to be honest frozen pizza or meat vege and mac was really easy to cook, so that's what we have been living on for about the last three months!! So fo rme the first step was to cut out the mac and cheese and the pizza. Still going with the meat and vege, but i am actually eating the vege now instead of filling up on the mac!!! Over time i hope to get more ideas and become a bit more adventerous with food!!

Speaking of food.. snack time!!!!! Going with rice cakes today and low fat philly!!!! Yummo!!!

PMSL Laughing SJ that was so why I had to get of the computer. DH had prewarned me he was on his way and he really hoped for a naughty. Got to get it when I can lol as DH libido isn't as high as mine I jump at the chance literally when he instigates it.

SJ whats the best work out on the wii? Is the wii zumba any good? Is it a game as such where you get points and can better your result or not like that at all? I only have wiifit plus but would love another fitness one.

SB do you find eating healthier is easier when your DH isn't home? My DH has been away since Sunday and I lost 1.4kilos which I put down to him been away and me eating better. I find it really hard when he is home.

I notice that there are a lot of us that are not sure what meals to cook, so i thought i would share with you what i am dong for dinner - it is not super low cal, but not bad i reckon...
Its also pretty easy to make and ticks the budget and kids friendly boxes too!

Quiche egg and bacon (sounds bad doesnt it!!!)

    x 2 sheets of puff pastry (345)
x 6 slices of short cut bacon (325)
    x 4 eggs (280)
    1/2 onion finely chopped (30)
    1-2 cups of mushrooms (70)
1 can light and creamy evap milk (275)

Blind bake pastry, cook onion, mushroom and bacon and allow to cool
in a bowl beat eggs, add can of milk, salt pepper and herbs
pour all into base and cook for 30-45 mins at 180.

TOTAL CALORIES 1050... sounds huge, but then if you divide it into 4 its only 265 calories... combine that with a huge salad dressed with balsamic, you probably will be just a little over 300cal for the whole meal... i cant eat a whole quarter, so its even less...
I change this around sometimes and add other things, the bacon is pretty naughty and i guess you can add othe things, but this is a family favourite and taking the cheese out, cutting down the eggs and adding the evap milk is big enough of a change!!!

Mildez... I find excercising harder when DH is home... even when i was just doing the odd time on the bike or situps it just felt weird doing them while he was home!! The eating not so much- except if he brings home naughty things.. which i have usually asked for lol. But since Monday nothing naughty has entered the house!! The dance game i have i get points if i get all the moves right and keep in time, and i can better my score. You can also practice the moves and go back and try again!

SJ... Thanks for that recipe!!! I actually saw egg and bacon quiche on the list for healthy eating on CK and thought, yummoo!!!! I might give that a go next week!!! Its less calories then my dinner tonight is!!! The wii weighed me almost a kg lighter than my scales this morning.. i have heard its a bit funny. i find its the darn deduction for the clothes thing. On my digital scales i weighed myself dressed and then nakes and there was no difference!!! So i just do the minus 1kg for my clothes on the wii- and then i just dont really go by that weight. For me its more the burnt calorie counting and the actual excercise i use it for. If it thinks i am lighter YAY.. but i go by my digital scales for my actual weight.
Which Dance game did you get?? I have My Fitness Coach Dance Workout.. i find they are pretty bad at showing the steps!! In the tuitorials you can break it down and practice.. but it doesnt add your calories burnt while your practicing!!! Which is a bit annoying coz i spent alot of time practicing!! lol But thats ok, i just add them to the "extra calories burnt" pile!! The ones i dont record that off balance if i have put anything wrong into the calorie counter!! I am on day two of the Boxing something or other. Its pretty good!! I definately work up a sweat!!!

Thanks for the recipee SJ. Sounds yummo.

I am yet to do any exercise today unless you count going to the target toy sales for 2hrs with bub in the sling a workout lol. I intend on getting on the wiifit tonight but will be surprised if I even get to 30mins with DH home and the kids playing up. For dinner we have roast lamb. It would delicious. I only had a small amount of lamb and I had steamed corn, carrots and beans with it and baked sweet potato, zucchini and pumpkin. I baked it with the slightest touch of olive oil and some garlic, chives and parsley. It was devine. DH had his pumpkin and normal potato in with the lamb. So tasty. I made sure my meat had no fat on it. I'm so glad I can have such a tasty meal minus all the calories that all the usual trimmings and gravy would bring.
