i have been going to the gym for about 4 months now and nothing has changed ..
ihave been up and down the 66 & 67 mark, until now i weighed in at 68.5
WHOA... i have been eating so much crap , chocolate mostly. I need to stop . i am desperate !
Any body know best weight loss tips .. i dont know if i should do tony ferguson or not coz i dont really eat much ...
Breakfast : cuppa tea and bikkies
Mid morn: proper breakfast of toast/cerael...
Lunch : sandwich or 2 cups frozen veges with cheese
Dinner: a meal of meat / fish/chicken usually with past or rice and veg ...
but all day i graze on choc .. i want it all the time
AF has ome bak with a vengence and made me crave this and bloat real bad , so i guess i have to take that into account ..
but its getting bad , tonight dh came home and i was sitting on the couch feed ds , he came over and grabbed my belly and gave it a huge pinch and a bit of a shake ... he has been dropping hints as well ...
i guess i could make excuses but i cant , i eat way to much chocolate , the easy thing would be to cut it out , which i am , but why isnt gym working ??
i need to drop em fast, i am begging to get real self concious about it .. also the other night i noticed mil eyeing me up , i could just tell she thought i was getting fat ....
HELP .... i need tips , whats worked / hasnt
I also drink 2l + of water a day and it still makes no diff ...
I have heard that breakfast should be the big meal.... eat more at breakfast. Keep dried fruit for snacks, it still gives you the sugar you want/get from chocolate but it is a better kind of sugar. Try to have your carbs (rice, pasta) for lunch rather than dinner.
And talk to someone at the gym... that's what they're there for and you are paying for...
But I also know what its like to crave chocolate. I am wanting to lose 5 kg before october when we start TTC, but its hard.... If DH starts to tease you, tease him back - is he bigger than he used to be. Why not try to lose weight together....
Adding a bit more lean protein to your diet can help reduce chocolate cravings. I don't know how it works, just does!! Oh and BTW if unless your DH has the body of a greek god tell him to go **** himself the next time he does that!!!!!

OMG Lea, you sound exactly like me.... including the weight (I've reached 66.5) I've put on 10kg in the last nine months since starting to TTC, its made me feel really down which makes me turn to chocolate... my weakness!
Thanks for starting this thread as I'll be able to see tips to help me too! (If I can start to be more strict on myself!)
Good luck losing the weight, you can probably tell I dont have any tips for you, just wanted to let you know you're not alone....
What sort of exercise do you do at the gym? I highly recommend weights, and Pump classes if you have them. They will build up your lean muscle and increase your metabolism, which means you will burn more energy and fat all day long - and you might be able to get away with eating that choccie then without it adding to the kilos. But bear in mind if you do increase muscle mass this will increase the number on the scales, as muscle weighs more than fat...
Instead of toast or biccies for breakfast you could replace it with a protein shake maybe? They have less kilojoules than 2 pieces of bread, and very few carbs. The Sculpt protein shakes for women (from health food stores) are pretty yummy...
Maybe instead of grazing on chocolate all day you can set yourself a small ration at the beginning of the day, and lock the rest away, and once the ration is gone you will have to wait until tomorrow - or eat an apple instead
I do really hope you know that muscels weighs more than fat!! So sweatting it out in the gym, could make you heavy, but toned. Maybe that is why you are weighing more and not losing the weight. Do you do cardio and some weights?
I think by cutting out your snacking habits, you will lose the last bit of weight. How tall are you? My goal is 66kg!!!!
I have just started weight watchers, so going to lose 10 kg before my birthday in Dec. Maybe we could help each other through.
What are you doing at the gym? If you do the same thing all the time maybe your body has gotten used to it. Try to do something different. Could you maybe add in an extra walk a few times a week...low intensity but helps burn more fat. Thats what my trainer told me to do anyhow!!...Also maybe try to change your habbit for eating chocolate for doing something else. When you feel like a chocky, maybe have a glass of water or try eating a mint instead, poor substitutes I know but it has been working for me and I am a die hard chocky addict, I used to have it every day and now I don't even want it every day.
ive got no tips for u as im trying to lose weight as well im trying to lose the fat i put on with jess and that was 15 mnths ago .my problem is i cant stop eating crap im addicted to food lately i havent got much to lose as ive lost most of it its just the last 10 kgs wont come off .i thought i get on here and maybe we can lose weight together
I am a chocolate addict too, so I am doing the weight watchers points plan so that I can still have 'treats' every day. I have lost 2kgs so far (been doing it just over 2 weeks). I am also walking about 3 times a week for about 45mins. I hate the gym!!!
I dont like the gym either! & I am a chocaholic big time too!!
Well, i've been on the shakes diet for 2 days now and lost 500grms already, i'm so proud of myself!! alot of it would be fluid retention too....ive been so bloated from eating crap and carbs!!!
I went on the Tony Ferguson diet a month before we were TTC and lost about 5kg. I have a very "busy" 17 month little boy so don't go to the gym but we would walk over to mentone beach and back every morning which was about 6 km round trip. I love chocolate with a passion and took chromium tablets whilst I was on the shakes and they worked to stop the sugar cravings. If you are still BF I don't know if they are OK to take.
wow ladies ... its good to get the support ....well today hasnt gone well ... dh was home so i got up at 9.30 and went straight out and for lunch we had pizza capers ... doh
BUTi really think we should all keep up this thread to motivate eachother
at the gym i usually do 2 classses of body balance(yogalaties) and weights with dh and ab work and a bit on the bike tread mill...
i dont feel fit or co ordinated to do cardio, i tried it a few times and was a bit of a dunce...
i really like the sound of protien shakes ,coz if i feel full i dont really want anything ...
i dont have scales at home only at the gym and i get down when dh loses weight... and i told him how i felt when he pinched and shook my belly ..he recokns he didnt mean it ... he said it was the first thing i saw .....
oh what a way to make a woman feel good ....
i really need to stick to sometihng , maybe having a goal is a good start .. but what do i aim for ?? wheight loss or more muscle... coz i know muscle wheighs more than fat... but there isnt much muslce i casn see ... spesh when dh has muscly arm like a wieght lifter ...and he can bench press me ...
Lea,I think that these days most dieticians recomend that you measure your waist not your weight. You should measure the area just above your pelvic bone, with a the tape straight and not holding your breath. If you make a note of it then you can compare in a month or so.
I'm a bit of a giraffe too when it comes to coordination but the best way to burn fat and lose weight is cardio and strength training. Try some Pump classes with a basic step class or a Combat class, they are so much fun and my fav. Can't wait to get back to the gym again.
REgardless od what diet/eating plan you use, having around 2 litres of water a day is a rally good way to help with weightloss, because it aids in fat metabolism (also - caffeine inhibits fat metabolism).
As someone else said, Ambah I think, the more lean muscle mass you have the faster your BMR (basal metabolic rate) is, so you metabolism is faster and you burn more calories. This is typically why men tend to lose more weight, faster than women.
If you can affrord it, book in with a trainer at the gym, even if its once off, or once a month, and get a program done (or get your DH to do one for you) with a bit of weights and cardio (bike/treadmill etc not necessarily aerobics).
Maybe try a chromium supplement (I use balckmores sugar balance) which really will help with the sugar cravings. I have not had any for over a month now. thought about chocolate yes, but never craved it.
Hmm. I am on Tony Ferguson at the moment, but even when I've been on a regular diet the main things that really make a difference for me are more water, no softdrink, less bread and less caffeine.
