Hooray for a new thread!! How exciting

ZF- that is great news to hear! You are still doing really really well! I know if i was home with DF i would have put on as much weight as you have gained, it is so incredibly hard! Keep it up, i am so pleased you started this thread, i have joined so many others like it and never gotten anywhere and have dropped out silently, but not this one

Belfie- ouch hun! Wow, that sounds like an injury and a half! I hope you get it sorted soon! For snacks, i am into almonds at the moment, the fat free, low sugar yoghurts or a diet coke/coffee. I'd like to think i was the eat the chocolate and run 8ks type, but i am actually just the 'eat the chocolate' type! LOL...

Welcome Ash! Its fantastic that you decided to join us! The more the merrier I love your attitude, about no giving in and having a better day tomorrow! Please don't feel like you have stuffed up! It takes a long time to change the eating habits you have had your whole life. Next time you go to stop at maccas think of us here and how good its going to feel to be able to tell us you thought about it but kept on going, or if you do decide to stop, try and just order one thing instead of a whole meal. This was my strategy, i had a BAD macca's problem! I would seriously go to the gym for an hour and half, and then stop at maccas on the way home! It was that bad...Its a really hard habit to break!

HotI, that is so awesome that about your progress. Slow and steady wins the race hey? I keep telling myself that, i think so long as its persistent small losses i am more likely to keep it off

AFM- still sick Had an annoying day at work, but managed to eat reasonably well. 2 pieces of DF's home made bread for breaky with vegemite, a nectarine for morning tea, a cream of broccoli soup with a small dinner role for lunch and then bowl of DF's homemade teriyaki chicken for dinner. I haven't logged it, but i am guessing between 1000-1200 calories? Oh yeah, plus another slice of bread when DF's next loaf came out of the oven! Too hard to resist! I was desperate for some sugar before bed, as i had gotten into the habit of eating some easter chocolate, but i made a vow not to eat it any more and don't have any in the house. Last night i was so desperate for something sweet that i actually ate some of the chocolate sprinkles i had in the cupboard! How silly... It didn't help, in case you were planning on trying it LOL.

Did anyone see the commando's diet for the black team on the biggest loser? Have you thought about trying it? It was basically fruit + cottage cheese for breaky, half a yoghurt + 3 almonds for morning tea, a tuna salad with a small amount of cucumber and tomato with 6 cups (!) of lettuce and a 90g piece of chicken breast with beans and 4 (?) cups of bok choy. It sounds alright to me, i could come up with some similar variations and stick to the main idea. I don't think i want to go that extreme though, but i like how simple it is! My problem with other 'diets' is how complicated it all seems and how many different ingredients you need to get, so this kind of appeals to me.

blerk, the gym today was such a chore. I couldn't sleep last night and DS started the day at 5.30. He's such a morning bird.
I did 20 mins each on the rower, treadmill and crosstrainer. I got sweaty but I didn't work as hard as I should. What do you do to pick yourself up and make yourself work when your heart's not in it?
Also, work-out music? What are you all listening to at the moment? I feel like I need to re-vamp my workout playlist.

ETA - the shin thing on the treadmill. I know we're all different so it may not work for other people but I find that if my shins are hurting a quick fix is to use the incline. Just 0.5% or 1% seems to take the pressure off my shins without making running a great deal harder.

Good question. I used to find I sometimes just had "off" days where my get up & go had got up & gone. I used to just try to push through them and work at the level that my body seemed happy with. I reckon it can be either that you are just tired or haven't fueled up well enough prior to the workout.
Playlists... I love The Bongo Song by Safri Duo, We No Speak Americano (great beat) by Yolanda Be Cool, quite a few by Eminem including Lose Yourself (particularly if you want an angry work-out lol - good for simulated hill climbs, strong beat but working working!), plus there's a few by Pink - her latest is great (Raise your Glass) and finally a classic - Thunderstruck by AC/DC is aVERY good cycling track!

Well my hip seems to have settled down again thank goodness. Went to go for a 10 min walk last night and realised I'd forgotten I'd already done a 20 min walk earlier in the day down to the playground... yay! So that's a good sign as I'm really keen to do my 30 mins walking (gawd it sounds pathetic - but hey, baby steps!). I've been eating well even though a tiny part of my brain is freaking out thinking can I REALLY eat like this for 6 months? Oh my!

Appletree - hahaha re the eat the chocolate type! Thanks for the snack ideas. I cut up a heap of carrot & celery sticks & had it with a proper serving size of beetroot tzatziki dip, gosh it was small lol. You are doing so well at this, I was just admiring your ticker!
