After watching Jamie Olivers show that was about School Lunches in the US Im a bit sceptical about what my children might be given to eat, and while DD1 makes generally good food choices DD2 needs more direction/encouragment to make good choices.
Yes that show was quite horrific - but quite different to my experience of school lunches in UK - we got no choice of food at all (until secondary school) and although not that exciting was reasonably healthy. We were at tables of 8 - two from top class so 10-11 years old were the 'servers' who dished out the food and the other 6 a mix of years. You could take sandwiches if you want (I remember begging my mum) but we were never allowed (as a mum I can see why now) and out of 10 tables only one was for sandwiches so the majority had school dinners.
