    Healthy Pregnancy #2

There was a thread around a while ago with mummas-to-be supporting each other to eat healthy and share recipes. Just thought I'd see if there was anyone interested in keeping each other company in keeping healthy whilst trying not to eat our weight in chocolate ?

I was just thinking about this thread last night, as my good friend Cherished started the original thread (*i think*).
So here I am, needing all the support I can get to be good.

ATM: I am finding my appetite and nausea quite annoying. The nausea is only slight and very sporadic, but it affects my appetite. When it comes I can't even look at food, let alone smell or eat it. I crave healthy food though, thankfully! So every opportunity I get i'll prepare something QUICK but healthy-ish. Im not a saint by any means.
My main goal in joining this thread is to monitor my weight gain during this pregnancy, as the less I gain, the less I need to lose
    How are things for you?
Thanks again Lady-bug, my new health buddy

    xxoo

Hi Sunny! I read the other thread that Cherished started, even though I wasn't pregnant then, thinking what a great idea. So here we are!

My main goal, like you is just to monitor what I'm eating. I'm not too fussed about weight gain as such but just being healthy, but like you say, the less you put on the less to lose!

I really need to curb the sweet things I'm eating! I need to find things to replace the junky stuff with something kinda healthy and up my water intake!

Who else wants to join us??

    I'm in also ladies,

Biggest concern is the weight gain. Which for me has always been a big probem in pregnancy. My first bub I gained 40kilos and 2nd one just under 30kilos. I've almost hit 20kilos up and at the rate I'm going I am gaining a kilo a week. This is my 3rd bub after LTTTC and until I got on the scales yesterday I was just so thrilled to be pregnant I didn't care if I gained heaps. But now in reality its so unhealthy especially when alot of my weight is from lack of exercise and unhealthy eating (chocolate is my friend when normally I don't even like chocolate)

Of to work now but to start my day I've just had a bowl of cereal with lite milk and plan on eating fruit between meals and increasing my water intake (I love soft drink to see very bad)

Welcome Mildez! Its great to have another mumma-to-be in here
FX more are to come in and join.
Wow!! 40kgs is a lot to gain, how did you go losing it afterwards? In my pregnancy I gained about 20kgs, but 9kg were in the first trimester!! OINK OINK!! I managed to lose it all, plus more reaching my goal weight of 60kg. Then.................BAM!!...................Im preggo again, and gaining already!! Im pretty relaxed about what I eat, but this time around I dont want to overindulge because 'when pregnant you're allowed too'.

For brekkie ive had a Vanilla Up n Go (yuk, but its stomachable and good for energy), and a cup of lemon tea with a piece of Harper's vegemite toast
The rest of my meals aren't planned yet so i'd better get myself organised, even though its Saturday.

    Have a great day everyone

Im here!!! Gosh... i dont want to put on the 45 kilos I lost in 2010. Im willing to put on no more than 7kg, so thats what Im aiming for. Im finding it hard already, as Im hungry!!! I found nuts and snackata's with dip are good things to snack on. Also, them life saver icypoles are very low points in Weight Watchers, and they are nice on a hot day and when you need something sweet.

Its going to be hard to stay healthy with they fruit and veg prices sky rocketing!

Hi Mildez! Glad to see you here. I gained 20kg with DS so I'd be happy with anything under that!

Hi MummaMia-We were belly buddies last time (I was Hippiemummy then) huge congrats on the BFP!! And well done on your weight loss thats awesome. Thanks for the tip about icey-poles, I'm basically living on icey-poles so I'll try those ones.

Sunny-I have Up 'n' Go's most morning as I still cant stomach breakfast

AFM-I'm really trying to up my water intake. Although it is hard when it makes me go to the toilet 100 times a day!!

Well I'm back from work and managed to stay goodish lol. I had lots of water and when that made me sick I had a little diet cordial and ice and an apple, then my normal lunch meal however on leaving a lady gave us a box of chocloates so I had 1 white chocolate ball. Then I am having a glass of diet coke and I've just got home and eaten a nectarine and already craving something exceptionally fatty or full of sugar. I poured myself a glass of cold water instead to see if that fills me up a little. I'm not concerned about my main meal intake its all the chocolate snacks inbetween. Arrrr so hard to resist.

Congrats on your BFP MM and on your weightloss. Thats excellent. After no1 I did loose all my weight but it took 2years. I looked great for a further 3.5years until I fell pregnant with DD2 and gained a further 29 and did manage to loose it bare 6kilos. Then with infertility I got depressed and gained some weight (another 5kilos) and lost 3kilos before we start IVF but got pregnant without it. I know I can loose it but I'd prefer not to need to loose a further 30kilos in comparison to 15. Also apparently I am a bridesmaid late this year so I'd like to feel good about myself and have my baby to show of at the same time.

I've never tried the Up 'n' Go's. Hoping if I get the energy I can go buy some yogurt and more fruit and vegies this evening. I'm so tired from work but I don't feel like doing a thing.

So I just went to the shops and ate some cake on the way there (only one small piece) so its an improvement on the 3-4large pieces I had yesterday. Then on coming home I ate a diet yogurt and will start dinner soon.

How does everyone go with exercise in pregnancy? I did nothing for 12weeks out of fear of dislodging bub then after then I didn't do much and now I have those horrid veins in the wrong spot so walking is impossible more then neccessary as gravity makes them blow up so swimming is basically all that I actually feel comfortable doing.

Mildez-Same as you, I did nothing for the first 12 weeks (basically too scared to move!) But now I walk probably 3-4 times a week and I walk for 40 mins. I would like to get to 5 days but sometimes things just dont work out during the day (as we all know). I would like to get into swimming as well.

I am so glad you started up this thread Lady-bug! Im so devastated about weight gain so far In 2009/2010 I trained 4 times a week with an ex biggest loser contestant and lost 27kgs and was looking amazing. Unfortunately due to financial reasons I had to give up training and a little bit of weight crept back on. Now that im pregnant, ive gained all my weight back. I was so upset sitting in front of the mirror at the hairdresser today. I look horrible! I really want to start exercising and eating properly so I dont put on much more. Actually im kind of hoping that if I eat really well and start walking, I might lose some!! As long as its all safe for bubba.

As for sugar cravings, I have them quite badly too. Fruit definitely helps, as well as dried apricots and dried apple or something in the cupboard so I can just grab a few. My ex personal trainer told me that the best way to curb sugar cravings was to have a constant supply of chewing gum around. When you felt the mid arvo cravings coming on, just grab a few pieces of chewing gum and most the the time it really helped. I also have a low carb/ low sugar hot chocolate mix. Its sweet enough and only 40 calories and quite filling too.

Im going to try and have as much salad and vege as possible, but bread/carbs are definitely my biggest downfall. I just have to look at a slice of bread and I gain weight!! I lose heaps when i dont eat carbs.

Anyway I look forward to sharing healthy eating with everyone! I need a good kick up the bum, thats for sure

Great to see more preggie ladies joining. More equals more tips right?

MM I got some life saver icypoles today. They look divine. Can't wait to eat them although klittle DD wants one for dinner and she will keep nagging until there is none left.

MummaBear thanks for the chewing gum tip. Is extra ok? I'm not into hewing gum but gee if it helps I'm willing to try anything if its safe for bubs. Also what kind of chocolate drink is low in sugar/carbs? I should get some of that also.

About to eat dinner. Its full of cream and cheese but its the snacks I need to reduce on or change mainly.

Hi Mildez - yep I bought Extra today. Its perfectly safe. As for the Lifesaver icypoles.....I have 3 boys and they would honestly last about 5 mins in my house haha! I get the fruit stick ones for them, so maybe I should start having those too. I think they are really low in cals. Your dinner sounds like the one I made the other night...bacon cabonara. Boy, did I feel sick afterwards :-/ I never usually make really high fat meals, but hubby (who is also a personal trainer too!!), was craving it. Will be a healthy steak and salad tonight!

As for the hot choc...its the Jarrah Choco Lait. 99% fat free and only 45 cals. Its the one the Biggest Loser actually recommended and its really yummy!! I think Coles has it in caramel flavour, but woolies doesn't.

For bread addicts, like myself, I was recommended to trade bread for Mountain Bread wraps. They are heaps better for you and yummy with tuna and salad etc.

Hiya, can I join too please? I got a BFP this week so off to the Dr to confirm on Tuesday. My DD is 7 months old and I put on 17kg (from lightest to heaviest) with her. Sometimes I say it was only 14kg because I did lose 3kg in the first trimester but still..... Like Sunny, I managed to lose the baby weight and BAM I am pregnant! I would really love to only put on 7 or 8kg. Definately not a double digit. I think it was all the baskin and robbins ice cream that did it to me last time - ooops!

For dinner last night we had steak strips and salad but I was still hungry later on and had a toasted cheese and tomato sandwich. *shakes head*

Dinner tonight is home made pizzas on flat bread. Whats on everyone elses menu?

MummaBear I made the chicken bacon cabonara. I HATE eating chicken when pregnant but poor DH said he is craving it and sick of red meat so I made it. Only had a small portion of it.

Ladybug if it makes you feel better about your Pizza following my serve of main I ate 2 big bowls of ice-cream. Toffey flavoured. The first bowl I said I could as its a lite one but don't ask me what the excuse for the 2nd bowl was except it was yummy. Oh dear. I so can see why I'm gaining a kilo a week.

    starangelk CONGRATULATIONS on your BFP!
