I have a love/hate relationship with feeling sore - love it because I know I am achieving something - dislike the pain - especially after doing legs - the loo is such a long way down lol.

I have done SFA, other than work and have family time.

I am telling myself that during out holiday (5 weeks, starting in under 2 weeks) I can realistically walk every day.

    Re: Spring Health Challenge

Scales have moved - patience pays off. Down 1.2kg from last Sunday. Been doing 10 minutes of kind of intense workouts daily, hiked up a mountain yesterday, but that's about it.
Eating has been ok, had a few difficult days but made reasonable good choices.

    Re: Spring Health Challenge

I have been doing all the right things...exercising hard most days, eating reasonably (and much less than I had had in the past) and drinking lot so of water - and I have put on 3 kgs Plus I saw photos of myself at DH's 40th.....nearly cried.
I have been allowing myself one cheat day and one afternoon a week. I didn't think I had been going too overboard even on those days but obviously I need a full pattern change

    Re: Spring Health Challenge

Step away from the scales. If you want to measure your progress take photos and measure yourself. Or set some physical goals - squat your bodyweight, run X kms without stopping.
Also, give yourself time. If it took you a few years to get out of shape then allow yourself a few years to get back into shape.

Me.... I've been ignoring my own advice and weighing myself. Bad move. I'd like to think it's all muscle but I eat too much ice cream for that to be the case. I'm always ****ing hungry. Sigh. I guess I need to knuckle down on my portion control.
School holidays here and the creche sessions are only 90 minutes so I'm going to have to limit the amount of time I spend wool gathering between sets.

I have learned to love the pain. Unless it's bad pain in my shoulder. I hate that.

Add more good fats to your diet and the hunger will go away, that's my experience anyway.

I don't think my diet is low in fats of the good or bad variety but I might try something fattier early and see how it goes.

    Re: Spring Health Challenge

I find if I have a nice 'fatty' brekky, the hunger holds off longer all day. If I have carbs, I am starving all the time. I do LCHF though so I am a bit biased lol.

    Re: Spring Health Challenge

Was away over the weekend and was very lax and am now finding it really hard to get back in the right mindset. Haven't exercised at all this week. Hoping to do something this afternoon but it's harder with all three kids at home.

Hellooooo ladies, anyone still out there????

I have done 11 days of the 30 day shread (Jillian Michaels) and did day 1 of level two yesterday - nearly died lol. But on the upside, even though the scales are continuing to remain steady, I can see some change in my measurements and before and current pics in certain areas of my body. I definitely feel stronger in my body and more toned.

Been meaning to join in here for a bit. Decided that is like to go from triple figures to double. Have really only decided to go back to tracking my steps (bought a pedometer & signed back up to walking with attitude). Haven't had a pedometer for a few years now and I think it shows. Used to be over the 10,000 steps that's recommended. Been on school holidays so currently just seeing how many steps I do for a couple of weeks (start back at school tomorrow) and hoping to get back to the 10,000 or more. This week it's been around 7,000. On the walking with attitude website they have a 6 week challenge to walk yourself down a dress size so looking at doing that once I have an idea of how much I walk at school on average with the aim to beef things up.

    Re: Spring Health Challenge

I'm still here. I have come to the conclusion that I suck at trying to eat healthy I am like a yo-yo at the moment will have a great run of eating really well and exercising lots then ruin it all by having a couple of days if shocking eating. I feel so good when I'm eating well and exercising I don't know why I keep sabotaging myself. Anyway it's a new week so I'm going to try and get back on track and stay that way.

Welcome leckert I'm going to check out the walking with attitude site it sounds good.

    Still here.
I suck at diet too but if I'm going to have better abs than my sister by Christmas I need to discipline myself.
I ran into a girl I haven't seen in about 3 weeks at the gym and she insists Ive toned up in the last 3 weeks. I'm pretty sure it's the shirt I was wearing because it is my most flattering workout top but I'm still flattered
I have a new enemy.... 500 metre rowing intervals. Beat 2 minutes. I'm all weak and shaky after each one.

    Re: Spring Health Challenge

    My diet sucks as well.

My motivation waned a little last week, only did two gym days, only half an hour or so each. Today I did a lot more, though I need to work to get back to what I was doing when I first started and threw myself into it. I need a gym buddy, I think. I feel like everyone's staring at me, even though I know that's not true.

    Re: Spring Health Challenge

I've been doing so much more exercise than usual, but my clothes are feeling tighter. There's no way that it's muscle. It may however be swelling, it's crazy hot and humid here - took my rings off just in time, any later and I would have had to get them clipped off.

But hopefully it is just swelling, and the extra movement is actually helping.

Diet not great - some days it's good, lots of meat and veg, other days it's basically rice and pasta.

Almost no alcohol (which would help) but more soda (which would not help).

I went overseas for a week and put on almost 4kg. Lost 1.3 of that in a week. Much good.

Put out lower back on plane. Much bad. Much pain

Much pain = no exercise = eating crap again.

    Must stop eating.

Oh Div, that sucks.....the back bit I mean.

    I too am still here.
Phteven - you are right about embracing the pain. It does make it easier.
I joined a 10 week challenge at the gym nearly 3 weeks ago. I have to do at least 2 classes a week, plus there are bi weekly weigh and measures. I had to miss last Saturday due to a vomiting child and so had it all done Monday after Pump. Different measurer and scales in a different location - plus I had just doubled my pump weight. The stupid scales reckon I've put on nearly 2kgs!! My measurements however hadn't changed..... Some of the other competitors also had issue with measurements.
Admittedly my diet isn't awesome. But it isn't total crap either. I am putting in some serious hard yards.....very frustrating.
No, I know you can't outrun a bad diet.
I am however, much fitter. I do have more shoulder and arm definition, and my leg muscles are better.

    Re: Spring Health Challenge

After exercise you retain a bit of water because your muscles are swollen, and also muscle weighs more than fat, so if you can see definition you have probably put on a bit of muscle weight.

Bummer about your back Div. I hope it feels better soon.

I've signed up for a Stadium race in February so I've made Thursday my stairs and speed day. Started yesterday. 1k warm up. 10 x100m sprints. 10 x uphill/downhill sprints. 10 x laps of the bizarre viewing thing with 3 flights of stairs. My legs are killing me today I've committed myself to 15 next week.
