CSAB.
I remember you from another forum... Might be this one, might be another one....
It was on the miscarriage section. I lost my first baby in June 07 and my second in Dec 07.
I had a different user name, which I have forgotten... Might have been "mustang" or something....
Now we are pregnant again together.... with diabetes! AWESOME!

Anyway... Its good to see a familiar name....

Hope you are well...

Anyway here is an update of where i am up to..

Well, I have gestational diabetes...
We spent 7 hours at nepean hospital on Wednesday seeing 5 different drs and a dietitian. they normally get you to fix your diet and check your glucose levels for 2 weeks before deciding if you need insulin or not. But apparently my levels were WAY too high and my diet is perfect so it is the hormones that are doing it so i was put on insulin immediately.
I have to check my blood sugar 6 times a day by *****ing my finger and I have to give myself 4 injections every day. Its much easier knowing that I am saving my baby....

We went for a scan yesterday and I will have to have one every 2 weeks.
Apparently, our little boy is perfectly normal in size and is measuring in at about 1.5kgs which is normal but his belly is twice the size of what it should be.

What it all means is that I was hoping to go through the midwife clinic at hawkesbury hospital and have a natural birth. However, I have now been shipped to nepean as they have a special nursery in case baby is really sick when he comes out.
he will probably be really fat as his little body is over producing insulin to cope with my high glucose levels. So he can have trouble breathing, heart problems, jaundice and just generally be unwell and kept in special care after he is born, anywhere from 24 hrs to 2 weeks or more....

I am being brave and doing as I am told. I have 30 min windows everyday where I have to eat my meals and snacks and I have to eat exactly the right amount of food etc. Then I have timers set everywhere for the next feeding.
This has NOT been an easy preg.

The plus size is that we had a 3D scan yesterday and got to see his little button nose and glorious grumpy face and he even has a yawn! beautiful.

My priority now is keeping myself healthy so that my baby is healthy...

Lucky I am a goal setter and work much better when I have targets set. I am ensuring that i don't cheat and that EVERYTHING is done correctly.
This being my 4th Pregnancy and no baby..... At least I can help this one reach our goal of holding it in our arms. I will do my very best!

SO.... Now, am I more likely to have a ceaser with gestational diabetes? I thought I was....
