Wow Jenna. I hope little dragonfly comes as planned (if not sooner lol) How exciting for you and Matt. Fingers crossed for you for a smooth labour and birth
Jaki - I have no clue on how to disable my FB wall lol don't even think I'll even get on FB today either, can't be bothered really lol means i'll have toi log out of hubby's FB and re-log back into mine, too much effort lol
just popping my head in (had GD + insulin both my PG's), to tell you all about a new program with Diabetes Australia... which as ppl with GD you're all eligible for. Basically it's like a health coaching course (in person or by phone). I'm just about to start it now my bub is a bit older, but I was interested to see they changed the criteria so anyone with GD can do it. I'm using it to help me lose weight & reduce my diabetes risk (my post-birth GTT result was good, but the odds of getting diabetes post GD is still too high for my liking). Link is here.
KimB - noticed your post about expressing. I expressed colostrum (never got any actual milk) for a few weeks prior to my birth hoping to avoid top-ups. Took me a little while to really get good at handexpressing (it was pretty slow!!). I was told not to use a pump, but in retrospect I reckon I coulda tried (esp given the pump & I know each other pretty darn well!). I got the ok from my obs of when to start due to risk of bringing on early labour. I didn't get any extra BH at all from it. And the colostrum I expressed (30ml) saved us from top-ups by the skin of our chinny-chin-chin! (none of my bubs were ever able to attach prior to my milk coming in, so I had to express all the colostrum she got). I also liased with an LC prior to birth (due to feeding probs last time) so she reminded me about sterilising equipment & what to store it in etc. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask or PM me. We ended up getting little Decor "bright & healthy dressing tubs" (pack of 6) 35ml each, I think they were at Safeway or Woolworths. You want to freeze itin really small lots cos your bubba won't be able to take much at all, and of course you won't wanna waste it! GL!
Hey everyone, Little Miss Dragonfly was born on wednesday after a 4hr 43mn labour, successful VBAC too Weighed 8 pounds, 52cm long, 34cm head circumference. Her BSL's were perfect and she didn't have to spend any time in the nursery - in fact she never left me the entire time - and mine were back to normal the next day and have been perfect ever since, even when I've been naughty and had cake and chocolate and fish and chips.
Still sticking with most of the GD diet, but as I'm always hungry with the whole milk-producing thing I have to eat some things I wouldn't have eaten with the GD.
Hope you're all doing well and belly rubs to you all!
Yay Jenna. I congratulated you in the BA thread but here's another lol Welcome to Elise and good on you for having her with you for the whole time. It was really good that she didn't have to spend any time in the scn and that you no longer have GD. I'm hoping that is what happens to me.
belfie - thanks for all the info. If I don't get all the info I need on Wednesday I'll definitely PM you. I'm already leaking so if they tell me to use a pump then I probably could lol. Next appointment is Wednesday and I'll be nearly 36 weeks omg this is just going so quickly.
Another quick question. How do you control the sweet cravings???? I'm having terrible cravings at the moment and with the GD obviously I don't want to pig out but what else can I eat to satisfy the cravings. It is really getting to much. I'm trying to be so good and this is not helping lol. BTW I weighed myself today and I have put on 5.2kg this pregnancy. This takes me to 88.7kg. I was hoping to get down into the 70's after the birth of this one but the weight is coming on fast atm. Could this be due to the insulin or just bubs putting on the weight too? This GD is doing my head in
Congratulations Jenna!! And welcome little Elise. So glad to hear she didnt have to spend any time in SCN. I hope she's settling in well xx
Kim I never have sweet craving (never really had a sweet tooth anyway). I know what you mean about the GD doing your head in, im the same Hope the panic attacks settle down, must be horrible for you Was your appt last wednesday or is to tomorrow? Hope you get some of the answers you're after. Once your mind is at ease hopefully the panic attacks will stop xx
Thanks for the info Belfie. I'll have a look when I get a chance. After seeing my Endo I was pretty startled when he said that my chance of getting type 2 later in life was 100% - so anything I can do to delay it would be great!
Well AFM..... I cant believe that in 7 days I'll be holding my new little baby! Im excited but scared at the same time LOL. Dont know how i'll go handling 3 kids but I'll just have to give it my best shot hey LOL. Im scheduled for 7.30am next Tuesday (12th) and have to go into hospital tomorrow for a CTG and then my last OB appt. Sugar levels are still on the rise so the sooner I get this baby out the better. Cant wait to stop these injections!!
