I love Lakes Entrance, but we've always stayed in a motel or, on our last visit, at family's holiday house. I think the sites at the caravan parks there would be pretty good, were you wanting to camp the night there too, or motel it?

Our friends in the trailer will stay in a caravan park, o we thought we would jsut get a cabin in the park as it is just 1 night on the way up.

Just thought I would add if you are going camping and you have an accident prone child....
DO NOT take a scooter
we did and on the second day away our DD broke her wrist, last camping trip she dislocated her elbow doing the same thing... oh and if you are going camping with children
KNOW where the local hospital is

We're going on a big SEQ loop at Easter, 13 days, all camping. Need to get some practice weekends in, I think!

Just a question - camp sites that are free. I've heard about sites along the Murray and the Great Ocean Road, but how do I find out exactly where they are, if I have to book a site, and who do I contact about it? TIA

Do you have the Camps 5 book? That lists free camp sites. I'm sure there are other ways of finding them, but I'm not sure how! Maybe contact the visitor centres in those areas?

No areas really in particular, Trish, just wondering about it in general. I've heard about ones along the Great Ocean Road and along the Murray, but I guess with that it's a case of how long is a piece of string!!! But I'll definitely get the book in March, thanks.

hello, just wondering if anyone has been camping at Glenelg River? We managed to get a couple of sites in their Easter Ballot and will be there for 6 nights. There will be a total of 7 kids..........6 of them under 4

Phoenix - I haven't been to Glenelg River, but have just looked it up and it looks absolutely gorgeous! I actually thought it was in Adelaide near Glenelg beach, didn't realise it was in Vic.

I had to look up where it was too after I'd seen it on one of those holiday shows. When we were down Mt Gambier way a while ago we went and had a bit of a drive around and it is really pretty. Just think it's going to be very cold since Easter is very late this year.
DH's family is from Vic, so it's a compromise meet halfway camping spot - about 4.5hours

We just got notification that our application to stay at Wilson's Prom over Easter has been accepted, woohoo! We've camped there heaps of times and it's so beautiful. So many people want to stay there over Easter that they do a kind of ballot, but it's first in first served. I put in our application (and two others for our friends) the second it opened LOL! I haven't yet been told which camp sites we got, hopefully they're near where we asked. We had Easter there two years ago and it was so much fun doing an Easter egg hunt around the caravan and tents

Hi ladies,
I just found this thread, well we have a camper trailer and 6 kids so it the most affordable way for us to get away. We love our camper trailer the only problem we have is setting up and packing away it takes ages as we have sooooo much stuff. We have had our camper trailer for 3 years and we are looking at buying a pop top caravan and somes tents for the big kids to sleep in.
