Meow- Can I go first please?!?
Please do. I'm so miserable at the moment there is no way I'm ready to go into labour.

I mentioned my stress on FB and got a bunch of "it doesn't matter how the baby comes, so long as you're safe" comments. Argh!!! Transferring to hospital just so I can get immediate PPH treatment isn't really a good safety plan!! People are just so down on HB.

    Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21

And on a positive note - my sister ditched her ob for an IM that has practising rights at GC hospital. She's going to get a VBAC with the model of care she's chosen and I'm so pleased for her. I hadn't said much but I was worried when she went back to the ob at first.

She tells me that when the ob confirmed the CFM policy (among other things) she said her sister had two HBACs just fine without that. Ob didn't have much of a response apparently, beyond something about keeping her and the baby safe (and my sister knows CFM doesn't have any benefit on that front). So even though she didn't make it to DD3's birth, at least she's educated herself and my births have probably helped demonstrate the way normal birth happens.

    Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21

I have been on a bit of a high ever since she was born! I am still trying to wrap my head around her birth (almost finished the birth story - trying to get it down while fresh in my mind), feeding is going well apart from a graze or two. Milk is just starting to come in.
DS is absolutely smitten - he wants to hold her and pat her all the time. DD likes her but is a bit unsure too.

We had a rough first night with Eloise coughing up lots of mucous and crying a lot, but she has been wonderfully settled ever since. I don't know if it is the home birth or being my third baby, but I really feel like I am enjoying her more than I did with my other two as newborns. I just can't get enough of smelling her head and touching her cheeks. Love!

Will post a link to my birth story when I finish - hopefully tonight.

Your story was lovely Sterla, thanks for sharing .
Am I the only one whose baby didn't have that special smell? I seriously never smelt it... I know what it smells like because I can still remember my baby brother's newborn smell which I loveddd but I never smelt it off my son.
I did smell A smell from him occasionally, but it was from the gunk that gets stuck in his neck lines so the smell would go after washing him.
He has lovely milk breath though which I bask in .

    Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21

bahhahahaha Dot face no I'm sure you aren't the only one. There have been studies that prove that a new mother can smell her baby out when blind folded, even when they thought they couldn't smell anything. Its an instinct thing. Maybe you have been that relaxed and content when your baby has been new that you haven't had to identify those feelings.

AFM: have started the mammoth job of washing and sorting. The weather is warm enough but there are passing showers so not the best timing to get some washing done but I'm in the mood! and thats Ladybugs fault, i saw that she was 36 weeks and yikes I'm really not that far behind her, better get something done. There was a lady at work that was as pregnant as me the other night and she had a CS date. AS much as i would NEVER want a CS EVER, the thought of an end date was very romantic at that stage of my shift! Am going to try to do my best to not wish this stage away and keep calm about the arrival date. When its ready it will be ready to join us. STILL no NAME none, nothing, NOT A THING. Suggestions please??? I like Archie and Elsie but DH HATES THEM and i have NOTHING else

    Lol...thanks Tegam.

If it helps you feel better I had picked two names I was dead set on (one for if if it was a boy, one for if it was a girl) and well it ended up being a boy but after heaps of people from both my and dh's family whined about the name I'd picked dh said he wanted a different name! Argh!! But while it was back to the drawing board, it only took us about a day to settle on his name (and I really think his name suits him). Sometimes you just need to see baby to decide "yep, he/she is a BLAH".
