Bella my ds was soooooo active and he then got sooooo quiet in the last few weeks, to the point I almost had a scan. He was born with the longest cord my midwife had ever seen (over a metre) and she said active bubs usually have longer cords. dS was also born tangled in his cord, but because it was so long it wasn't an issue (it was a great birth at home).

HotI yes we had the heel test at home for both babies, and then for the hearing test I had to organize it with the university of Melbourne audiology clinic. It was free, and baby has to be less than four months old, so there's heaps of time. Bub has to be asleep though, so obviously it's easier when they're newborn and will sleep through anything.

Hot... do you have muscle separation? I had it rather bad with Elijah and it scares me that if I have another it's going to be worse than then. I had to tubigrip after the birth to hold my tummy up and in enough otherwise I could barely walk. With the support, I could though but it was really tender. I couldn't use the tubigrip for long though and was worse when I was pg cos it kept rolling up across my back and digging in so bad that it looked like I had enormous welts! What is the womama wrap? Maybe you could PM me a link?

Yep, i had muscle seperation from about 20 weeks with my DD, it got to 6cm after she was born. I got it back to about a 2cm gap before this pregnancy. I haven't measured to see what i am at now. I also have a hernia t my belly button this time that i think is related. Yeah, i get the tubigrip rolling down my back too. My midwife gave me a number to call for someone who makes bellywraps, will let you know if i find it any good. The womama birth wrap is just a funky dress thing that looks really comfy, it doesn't give support to the tummy. Thanks for that, i didn't know you could get the hearing test done up to 4 months- even better that you don't have to go to hospital for it.

HotI: yep your IM can do the heel test at home . the amazing thing is that you can BF your baby when they do it and they sleep/feed right through it! breastmilk is amazing for pain relief! i just remember DD1 screaming and being manhandled last time so the difference this time was phenomenal!

Thanks Hot! I have a belly belt thing which is supposed to help, dunno how much it does, but it certainly is more comfortable but a little awkward to get firm enough, particularly when you have this massive belly hanging out everywhere lol. I'm not sure how bad mine got with Elijah, but I remember the night I felt it happen, OMG the pain was rather excruciating! I'm still somewhere between 2 and 3cm I think. I just can't get it better than that. So I know that if we have another, I need to really nurture my belly right from the get go and really help it and give it as much support as I can. soo, Im thinking I may just want to join here please? After a massive meltdown last week I think we may have found a midwife that we may like. We have an appt with her on tues morning. So Im hoping it all goes well and by tues arvo I shall have my midwife lined up.

Wow Ozzie, that is one impressive belly! No wonder you have muscle separation - there is only so far they can go before something has to give!
