Hey Twin Sister! Are you still hanging in there with the breast feeding? Sounds like a bit of a miserable time. If you think you do have thrush (and to me it sounds like you do) get some canestan or monistat to use on your nipples. My md said I could put it on twice a day for a week, right after nursing. You can take acidophilus (tablets or drops) to help prevent it from returning, or try BioK. (it's like yogourt, but with way more live bacteria. You can get it in the health-food section of the grocery store. Safeway?) Does your baby have a yeast diaper rash? (Bright red, maybe "bubbly" looking, and mostly painless. Pretty common with thrush.) If so, you can use monistat or canestan on that too. If your baby has thrush in his mouth, than you can get gentian violet OTC at the drug store. It is MESSY, but effective. Use a q-tip to swab his mouth with it twice a day, for 2-7 days. Also, if you have any soothers, pitch them and buy new ones after you start treating the thrush. I'm assuming that applies to any equipment that you use on your breasts - ie. pumps. Sterilize the living daylights out of them. My midwife said yeast is a bugger for coming back if it isn't totally wiped out.
Anyways, I hope you get some relief! All the best.
