    Hi Everyone

I haven't been on this forum for ages, before we found out we had to have IVF i think.
I am in my first cycle, currently on nasal spray and the Gonal-f pen. i have been having injections for 6 days now, i haven't had too many side effects yet a little bit of cramping and breast tenderness. Felt a bit emotional last week, but ok at the mo.
We have to have IVF with micro injection and am going for BT and Scan this Friday.
I live in SA and am going through Repromed is anyone else going through them?

Hi - just thought i'd send you a bit of a note Cheryl.
Try to be really flexible with the whole 'dates' thing. I ended up 9 days past what was first envisaged. AF refused to show, and then we took another couple of days to get the follies big enough. I'm not saying you will have these problems - i just wanted to let you know that it's a real moveable feast!
If you haven't discussed blasties, then you are most likely doing a day 2 transfer, in which case your ET will be two days after your OPU.
Good Luck - i hope you start to feel a little better soon.

    Thanks Jo

The nurses have mentioned that the dates are really only a guide and that a lot of things can happen between now and then that will result in the calendar being changed. I guess I am justing trying to think positive - my DP will be away for work for 4 days starting at the end of the 3 day range we have been given for EPU (does that make sense?) so I am really hoping that it doesn't move to the right by a a day or so as that will really muck things up for us! I am know I am probably kidding myself that my body will cooperate with our work and travel schedules but I can only hope - mind over matter!

    Thanks again.

IKWYM!! My DH is a shift worker and getting time off for him is close to impossible. I am hoping and praying and keeping everything crossed that we manage to get OPU and transfer done while he is on days off. But i'm not feeling lucky!!!
You are taking a much higher dose of GonalF than me, so you probably won't be left hanging around as long as me.
So here's hoping our bodies cooperate!!! There's always hope!!

    Hi Jo

Why is my dose higher do you think? I don't have any problems with ovulating that I know of. We are doing IVF because of DP's sperm issue - at least that is the only problem we know about at the moment - hopefully there aren't any others

Just thought Id add my 2 cent worth...lol...Cheryl maybe your dose is higher because they want more eggs because of the low sperm count. More eggs the better chance of the sperm fert one. Maybe thats why. But Maybe also cause your 39 and they might not think you will get as many eggs with a smaller dose. hmmmm... Just a thought.

Good luck to all you ladies!!

I am a chronic migraine sufferer, so they try not to overdose me so that i don't end up in hospital. Also, i had a really really high follicle response to Clomid (17 follies on my first and a few less on the other times), so they know i'm a bit sensitive.
Also, I hate to say it but it's an age thing i think
I am meant to have good eggs at my age, so they don't need to get so many as my chances meant to be better. However my last full stim cycle was a total bust because i had cr@ppy egg quality. All medical professionals were surprised. So age is no reliable measure.

    Thanks Jo and Missy

This really is a big learning curve isn't? And one of the things I am about to learn over the coming weeks is how cooperative my body is and whether I am still up to the task of producing a good number of follies crossfingers:

    Take care everyone!

    Hi all,
I've been logging on and reading the forums for some time and have only just joined. I am nearing the end of my first ICSI cycle. I don't know how i'm feeling but i do feel like i know nothing at all about the drugs and treatment despite all the reading i've done.
Taking the Synarel hasn't been too bad, i haven't experienced any side effects and don't mind taking the stuff. When i started the Gonal F injections same thing, once the nerves went, my body just kept on like nothing was happening to it. Then, positively i had my first ultrasound this week and could see all these follicles, something like 8 on the left and 6 on the right. The nurse told me they were looking great in size and number and that my uterus was a great thickness, all this overly positive stuff which got me feely soooooo excited that i might be one of the few 1st timers who gets lucky, but then the BT showed i was low on LH so they started me on low dose Pregnyl yesterday and i just can't stop crying.
My emotions are a wreck, and poor DH is feeling terrible. I go for another ultrasound tomorrow and they're saying probably Tues for egg retrieval. I thought i had things all together and was in such control, but now the cycle has taken over. I assume i am not alone, but noone knows DH and I are doing ICSI so there's noone i can talk to about it.

Welcome Kimbe, you are not alone, and in here you will find heaps of support it is an amazing website with amazing people. I am not even up to the nasal spray yet so I cant compare to what you are going thru but I can say that i am emotional too and I really do feel that this is a side effect of all the drugs and probably the IVF/ICSI TTC experience. I'm sorry that you feel like a wreck but I'm sure that you will get thru it and then you be telling me when i'm up to that stage that feeling like a wreck is normal!! lol. You can talk in here about ANYTHING you want to. Have you tried IUI or any other fert treatment prior to ICSI?? How long has your TTC journey been?
    Hope you feel better.

Thanks Blayz, i am feeling a little better emotionally, though still touchy and yes, the nurses confirmed yesterday for both DH & I that it's definately to meds - most likely the Pregnyl they've added to me daily. I am now more so feeling nausious and full of aches and pains, but my first journey is nearing completion with confirmed EPU on Tues. I am excited and nervous all at once, 13 "good" follicles.
I haven't had any previous fertility treatment. DH has obstructive azoospermia, so i am just praying they find some wrigglers with his PESA on Tues!! I know i am young, but we've been TTC for 2 yrs now after Vas-reversal - they said we should give the reversal some time! Anyway, i'll let you all know how it goes with EPU.
Thanks for the kind words Blayz, how long till Synarel now, i felt that once i had started the spray, i had really started the ICSI cycle!

Wow 13 follies that is great!! I hope it all goes well Tomoro for you. Will x my fingers! 2 years is a very long time when you want something and i am only a year older than you and people say to me all the time, oh you have heaps of time you are a young pup, it doesnt matter what age we are or how many fert years we have left, we are ready now! My DH is a bit older than me like yours and he really doesnt want to be 5 years older when we finally fall PG as it does make a difference. I start the spray on the 26th of June so i'm sure from there it will all fly and i will too feel like I have started IVF. Good luck and keep in touch over the next 2WW and let us know how you are doing. I really do hope that this is your turn.

Cheryl - i thought i'd let you know that i got AF today - yes today - and i am still taking the BCP for another 2 days.
Today IS day 28, but they have me taking a 4 extra pills so that i 'fit' in their schedule. So AF was meant to arrive on next Sunday.
And funny thing is - last time AF came sooo late.
So, damn this body - it won't do the job (of getting pg) naturally and it seems to be rejecting all attempts at helping it.
    Will i ever be normal...
    How are you travelling??

Hey Missy glad you are back I missed you!!
Kotare are you starting a new ICSI cycle, so you are now about a month into it? Is that right? If you dont mind me asking what happened in your first attempt??? What does it mean now that AF came when it wanted to earlier that planned?
