    Any1 in 1st IVF Cycle???

    Hi Blayz

I am new to BB and am also on my first IVF cycle at Westmead. I am a bit ahead though, I have finished the Pill and have started the Synarel Nose spray and half way through the Puregon Injections. Everyone has told me (nurses friends and do-gooders) about the horrid effects of these drugs. I went for my first Ultrasound on Thursday to see how things are going and I was worried as I had none of these side effects and thought it wasn't working. Turns out it's working so well they lowered my dose and thought it was funny I was worried there were no side effects. The one thing you learn from this journey is that everyone's journey is different.

I do lots of Yoga and go to the Gym and I have also told my work and friends about what I am going through and they are so supportive. I've found having all that support actually makes the process a lot easier. Also the nurses are really great and make you feel at ease. I used to spend hours in my bedroom in tears everytime I got my AF or spent time with my nieces and nephews, but now we've taken this step I think this is the most relaxed and calm I've been through the whole infertility thing.

I've feel I've been very lucky and blessed so far in this process and I sincerely hope the same for you.

    Cheers
    Shelly

    Hi All,

Sorry Its been a while since my last post, but DH and I have just got back from spending 10 gorgeous lazy days on a secluded island in Fiji. All with the intention of making me nice and relaxed and ready to jump into this first IVF cycle of ours...which we have - Woo Hooo

Started the Synarel on Monday when we got back and can agree with the ladies here that the taste is absolutely disgusting....and the feel of it trickling down the back of my throat... hmm... lets just NOT go there!!

SHelly D... it was great to read your post, as I too am having no side affects at all so far, (touch wood) from the synarel. I was actually starting to worry that maybe it wasnt working!!! So reading your post has put my mind at rest - thanks!! Hopfully I will not have any side affects from the puregon injections as well!

Have had a bit of a concern this morning - slept in and had my synarel 1.5 hrs late... I hope it doesnt make a huge proble for my cycle ( but all that is in a different post).

Any way glad to hear we are all going well...Must go and get my hairs cut now.

Take care, happy snorting and injecting, and

    to us all.

    Cheers... Fi

    Hi Everyone,

I"m new to all this and am just about to start my first cycle - Smithy, if all goes well we should be on a very similar path! My DH has had a vasectomy about 10 yrs ago during his first marriage so the journey will certainly be interesting!

This is my first visit to BB but I have spent time following this thread and am looking forward to hearing from you all !

Lots of baby dust sprinkles to all

Kotare - just wanted to say thanks so much for sharing your journey and I really really hope that round 2 is successful for you. In fact I really want everyone here to be successful in this cycle!! That would be the best thing ever.
Sounds like NO ONE loved the spray!! lol... Looks like I have alot to look forward to, am not good with yucky tastes at all. The tip about before eating sounds like a goer!! Shelly - sounds like things are going really well for you, I hope they continue to do so and you are well on your way to your BFP.
Fi - 10 days in Fiji sounds awesome!! Is this your 1st IVF cycle too?
Smithy - your not intruding at all!! It helps me heaps also to hear what others have found and I can say that today is the first day that I have not been anxious in a long time. Good luck.

    Hi everyone

Wow there is such a lot going on in this thread... seems there are lots of ladies in their 1st IVF cycle along with me! That makes me feel a bit better. Tomorrow, I am off to my first u/s after the Gonal-F injections to find out how my follies going. I have taken the day off work because I can - no-one at work knows about this and it is so difficult coming up with excuses why I won't be in until lunch time...

Jo - how is everything with you? Are you still on the BCP? Hopefully your cycle won't be affected by the early arrival of AF.

    Chat soon ladies, take care.

    Hi Smithy,

AF has not come and I am quite stressed about it. It has been on time for the last two months and now - when I am counting on it, it doesn't arrive! Hopefully, it won't be long now!

Am not looking forward to the spray!

    Hi Ladies,

I can agree with Fi and suggest that a tropical holiday prior to starting this, is really worthwhile, we spent 10 days in Bali.

Cheryl, I did tell my work as I was thinking of resigning, and they actually gave me two months off and keep insisting I stay calm and relaxed. Two of the manager's wives had IVF so they know all about it. I'm back at work now (and wouldn't you know it our busiest week of the year will be the first of the Two Week Wait - fingers crossed I get that far.) Work knowing has actually reduced the stress heaps.

Had my second ultrasound today and have 19 follies that are over 10mm and 12 others just under. Egg Pickup is this Thursday. I got to go home with yet another show bag of drugs, but Wednesday will be a drug free day.. Yippee.

Sounds funny but now I am this far through I am actually starting to get excited...getting a fertilised egg inside will be the closest we've come too getting pregnant!

I'd love to keep hearing how everyone is doing, lots of love, good will and baby dust...Bring on the BFP's!

    Cheers

    Shellyd

Great news - hope everything goes well for you on Thursday. Wow that is a lot of follies (I think?) - I expect you will get a good number of eggs from your EPU. This is so exciting - I have my fingers crossed for you. I might only be a week behind you if the increased dose of Gonal-F kicks in. I have another scan on Thursday to see how I am going - my scan on Monday showed very little activity in the follies, so Thursday sounds like a big day for both us! Let us know how go.

    Take care all, Cheryl.

I am surprised how fast this time has actually gone already, I know that you said it flys once you start the spray so that'll be good.
